Just dumped a ton of money in my 2000 Quad cab 4x4 2500. It includes the following: Edge EZ, DD2 injectors, new intake, gauges, a DDT transmission and the RASP. Took it for a real test drive after working through a variety of issues with the upgrades and found that I would only get about 20-22 lbs of boost. It felt real strong, but in my mind I thought I would see more boost. It did smoke some when I was on it. I have not towed my trailer (approximately 9000 lbs) yet but it doesn't seem to me that it would make a difference, boost is either there or it's not (right????). Anyway considering the upgrades what would you expect to see for boost? I have not driven it enough under load to let you know what my EGTs are yet, unloaded they are between 400-700. The real test will be this weekend when I take the trailer over the Sierra's.

Any insight would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

That sounds about right, maybe a little short on boost but it depends on your truck. what do you have ? I cant really compare im running 50-65 lbs of boost!

What turbo do you have? If you have the HX35, you need a different boost elbow. If you have the HY35(has the hardlined Wastegate) you will need to get a jhook or get a turn buckle. With the HX35 and the boost elbow you should be pushing between 30-35 PSI. With the HY35 and jhook or turnbuckle you will not want to go over 25-28PSI.

To answer your question, no I don't think so. Also excuse My ingnorance but what is a j hook and is it safe. Thanks for your reply

Didn't the edge EZ come with the J hook? way back when I had mine It came with a boost elbow and J-hook. and with the stock turbo and ez only 22-25 lbs boost.

Hx35

Not sure other than the turbo is stock with the truck and it's a 2000. How can I find out? Thanks

My Y2K Auto has a HX35. The 2001. 5 and up Autos got the HY35 to Improve spool up, at a cost to top end.

Hansen, You can add your trucks signature to your 1st post on every page by filling it out, in the "User Control Panel" option under "Discussion Forums" on the top of the web page. Moose00 Oo.

I have a small rubber hose on the front face bottom of the turbo (as suggested by Bob Wagner) so it seems that it is an HX35.

So it sounds like the turbo is putting out what it should (20-22lbs) with the stock boost elbow. It only smokes when I first jump on it. So is it fair to say that if my egts stay in the safe range that a different boost elbow is not needed or am I shorting the potential of my modifications by keeping the stock boost elbow.

Thanks for everyones help.

yes your shorting yourself. You can pick up an adjustable elbo off of ebay(where i got mine before my hx40 install)I think It was under 10 bucks if i remember correctly.
