What is your favorite BOMB on your trucks?

I am finally in the assembly stage and while everything is apart is usually the easiest time to make modifications. I would like ideas from the group so I can steal your great ideas and incorporate them into the truck as I build it. :-laf

When I finish, I want to drive the truck and not have to do anything other than routine maintenance for a long time. . The wife agrees.

I have already done: Borgeson steering, KDP, Piers Cam, 3200 gov spring, Valet Switch, Pull Cable,HD pilot bearing in Flywheel, HTT Stage II Turbo, and 3-3. 5-4" Jardine Exhaust. Pyro, Boost, and Tach are on the workbench. POD's on order.

I am planning:

Headlight and Trailer light relays,

Winch power to front and rear for receiver mounted Ramsey Winch,

2" receiver in the front for said winch.

6" rear softride springs, remove blocks (my stockers both have broken leaves and parts truck has these on it.

Softride front springs( I don't know how high but one of my fronts has a broken leaf so now is the time)

My front bumper is bent so I need a new one. Stock or buckstopper opinions?

(yes Philip, I still have that center section :) I am having fun finding a stock replacement that has the holes.

I would like to add an RV deep cycle battery for camping and charge it with the alternator and optionally be able to use it for starting help. I do not know how I am going to do that and ideas would be appreciated. I was half thinking of mounting the battery under the front passenger side of the bed up against the outside of the frame rail. ????

BHAF make much difference?

My bestest mod is the electric fuel pressure gauge by Westach setting inside a killer second gen column mount. The gauge is much more than simply a warning of low fuel. I use it to monitor the systems operation as well as fine tune filter changes. You don't need a 400 hp engine to utalize a fuel pressure gauge.

And BTW, I stopped tractor pulling cuz I gots REAL tired of pulling engines apart all the time. I agree with your wife. Do it right/be done with it and drive it for thousands of miles :)

You could use a battery switch like they do on boats... Off-1-2-Both. Get one with a field disconnect so you can switch with the engine running and not fry the diodes in your alternator.

However you decide you should use a digital volt meter to monitor battery condition. Here is a $15 one the plugs into the cig lighter. I have one for my boat and it works great.

All things considered, I like the comfort/convenience upgrades - those things that make our trucks feel and drive like newer ones, for very little $$$. Power is great, but having a 'new' feeling truck is so cool with these dinosaurs.

So, that said, I really think my favority bomb is (with an auto) installing the 2nd gen gear shift selector with the overdrive button at the tip. No kidding - so much nicer to control the o/d from the tip of the lever than hunting for the button on the dash face.

See the gearshift lever tip? :-laf

For driveline mods, gotta be an aftermarket converter (again, for auto's).

BHAF, yes definately. Make sure you make some kind of housing to protect it from rain thru the edge of the hood. I put mine in and it rained that nite, I never thought to cover it. The next morning it was saturated and the truck barely ran and smoked white like a pig. I pulled it and went to work w/o a filter. That was friday, its still damp, been in front of the fridge to dry and in the sun on sunday.

You can't have enough gauges, fuel is very handy, also volts, tach, altimeter, outside temp, diff temp. Sorry, got carried away :D
