Dowel pins sure make the job of lining up everything

I am getting a rumble from the passenger front on left turns. Looks like I am about to need to order some also. One thing about amazon and ebay. They are full of very well done counterfeits and the complaints go nowhere. This is an interesting page from the SKF bearing site on fakes.

Check your axle U joints before replacing the wheel bearing. I had noise coming from the front of my ’99. Bought a new bearing assembly figuring the bearings were going out. When I looked closer I found the U joints were done for.

Thank you for that. I will have a look. I am almost done with what I swear is a hundred trips hauling across the state. Proud of the old second gen rolling money pit. :)

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!
Bearings are NOT somewhere to pinch pennies. Your life depends on them. Moog are Chinese crap.
Timken
SKF
FAG

Napa usually have good bearings. At least they used to.
I wish you the best.

I put Timkens on my '99 22years ago when I first bought my '99. Who ever did the front brake job(new rotors),before I bought it, fugged up the front wheel bearings. They werent seated in the races and ran for who knows how long

I would not ever buy anything MOOG . IMHO and experience, Moog = Junk

I wont by from Napa either, way overpriced mark-ups $$$$ on everything

My memory is having to reach back about 7 years, but I sure think the hubs I bought from NAPA back then were reboxed MOOG.
90k miles since then so I guess I can't complain, but SKF got installed this time.

Edit: the more I think about this, the more I think I may be recalling the ball joints I purchased at the same time as the hubs.

Well someone will always have something to say about what ever brand you buy the brand they use is always better I personally wouldn’t worry about it much a wheel bearing doesn’t just one day fall off unless bubba forget to tighten the bolts or even install the bolts if you can’t tell when a wheel bearings is getting ready to fail you probably shouldn’t be working on or driving anything

My 2001 is at shop for at least the 3rd left side and at least 2nd right side. I am about 100% sure the one on th eleft right now is a Timken that was from China.

I just bought this set no name that I saw but Spain, USA or Mexico origin they say. I have had good luck with that vendor, and they won't on purpose sell a bearing made in China. On slipped though when I was replacing bearing in my Dana 80 and they promptly replaced. Replacing ball joints with EMF and will likely replace the u joints while in there (although they aren't too old currently).

I have a rotation noise that I think is coming from the LF, can't replicate it under no load when on the rack, so just going to replace the hub and other stuff since this is my slow season and I can't have the truck down during busy seasons. It is either the hub or the u joint, not anything else I can think of on the wheel ends. I have heard both a noise that sounds like a throw out bearing or carrier bearing that is very intermittent (but isn't either of those I don't think, neither are original) plus now the rotational ticking sound like a rock in a tire sort of. When I replaced the LF hub last time, same thing, unresolved noise that went away after replacing the hub, so hub is suspect again.
