I have been playing around with the settings on my Rancho 9000's and was wondering what settings were the most popular. Right now I have the front at 3 and the rear at 2 with the truck empty.

What do you find optimal when you are not carrying a load?

Running empty, my dually likes 1 on the rear and 3 on the front. When I'm loaded, I use 3 to 5 on the rear, depending on the load. The front stays on 3.

Luckly, my 95 sets up high enough that I can lean in over the duals and adjust the rears in only a few seconds.

Good luck, RJR

And that's not all...

I’ll add to the consensus. I have the in cab adjustable system too, and tried various combinations. The only time I have really deviated from front 3, 5 rear loaded was when the road was incredibly rough. We tired 1 front and 3 rear and floated down the road like a 62 Cadillac. Handling was kaput, but the rough ride went from unbearable to pleasant.

Empty, I am running 2 on the front, 1 on the back. Almost feels like a Buick on steroids.

Towing the 5ver - 4 on the front, 5 on the back.

3 on front, 4 on back. The rear end buck seems to be controlled better with a stiffer setting(on mine anyway). 4 front, 5 rear w/ loaded slide-in.

rancho setting

empty I keep the front on 2 and the rear on 1.

When I haul my slidein I use 3 on front and 5 on rear.

Gents:

When I had my 2500, I ran 5 on the front and 3 on the rear unloaded and 5 on the rear with my 5th wheel. I really liked the solid feel.

I just ordered RS-9000Xs (9 settings) that are supposed to be even better than the RS-9000s. We'll see.

Wiredawg,

It seems to me that you defeated the purpose of the adjustable shocks. With the Ranchos that stiff you might just as well have left the oem shocks on.

Hey Cobra:

The OEM ones are too cushy, not too stiff. I go over the speed bump anyway but very easy and it bottoms and bounces. When I went over them with my 2500 that had the Ranchos, could do so pretty much any speed I wanted to, but not too fast.

I do play the settings some depending on overall road quality. The roads around DC are in pretty good shape, so I can run a little stiffer than I can back in my neck of the woods in Texas

Bottom line: I prefer the stiffer ride of a sports car over that of a cushy luxury car.

Wiregawg,

Now I understand. My OEMs were too hard. My teeth rattled in my head just driving a regular roads. But then if you know what regular roads are like here in Pa. Then you know what I mean. Thats why I got the ranchos and now the truck rides great even empty.

Empty I have been on 3 at both ends. Loaded I go 3 in front and 5 in rear. I may put the rears at 2 and experiment a little bit. Loaded I am at 2140 hitch weight of the 5er.
