Actual Gooseneck Hitch ratings (not ball rating)

Wake up RAM

I have a 2013 Ram 2500 with the 2.5" receiver. All of my ball mounts are for 2" receivers. I have the adapter but I'm "stacking tolerances" creating a ton of play. Anyway, I'm looking for a good quality adjustable hitch. I have three trailers, two with a 2" hitch and one with a 2 5/16". I would like to get one with both size balls if possible. Especially one that will fit the receiver with little to no play.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have a B&W Tow and Stow. Very nice piece of equipment. I believe that the offer both 2" and 2.5" and a variety of drop/rise and ball options.

I've been looking at the Weigh Safe and B&W brands. I need to measure just how much drop I need. There is some money to be saved between a 6" and 10" drop hitch. Plus, if I don't need the 10", I would rather have the smaller drop due to possible dragging on steep driveways.

I have the 9" B&W and I have had it scrape the ground several times. I would go with a 6" or 7" max unless you really need the extra drop.

I have the weigh safe 7” all aluminum drop hitch. It comes with both ball sizes and you can order it with the keyed lock for the ball. I really like it. I store the alternate size ball in the floor compartment behind my seats in the mega. It fits the larger size receiver nicely so that adapter is gone. I have a 1” lift in the rear. I use the 7” drop height for my utility trailer and 6” for my duck boat trailer. It is nice to have the trailers riding level. Since I’m not towing really heavy I haven’t really needed the weighing aspect of the hitch but it is nice to see how much weight is put on the ball.

Andersen HD EZ hitch. Part #3299. That is an 8" drop. They have a 4", but with my '15 2500 I needed all of the 8" for my 16' enclosed trailer

Does anyone have experience with the GenY hitch? The price is a little salty but having a built in pintle hitch is nice. The higher end models have a dampening bushings built in. Regarding the tightness of the fit. I too am very annoyed by the sound of a rattling hitch. Do an Amazon search for a "Anti Rattle Hitch Tighener". It may sound crazy but this thing is basically a window clamp for the receiver. The ones I picked up were stainless steel and work great! I was quite surprised by the rating of the GenY.

Cheers,

Do you have a link the one you are referring to? I've been trying to fine one that will work with a 2.5" receiver and have not found one that:
A: will fit and
B: that I like.

I did the Amazon search and couldn't figure out which one you were referring to.

I have one like this : https://www.amazon.com/MICTUNING-He...&sr=8-19&keywords=anti+rattle+hitch+tightener for my 2" receivers that I really like....but nobody makes one for a 2.5

However, I just came across this, and I think it will work great, I just wish it was cheaper. https://www.amazon.com/MICTUNING-He...&sr=8-19&keywords=anti+rattle+hitch+tightener

I’ve got roughly 2k miles towing with the Gen-Y torsion hitch. It was pricey, but worth it for me. It does smooth out the trailer/truck motion.

I use this one it's 2 5/16 ball with 2x2" shank. I have no rattling issues towing my 7K boat.

AMAZON [h=1]CURT 45331 Loaded Forged Ball Mount[/h]

I just ordered a Weigh Safe/180 8" with the 2.5" shank. I'm just getting too much play using the adapter shelve with my 2" stuff. It should cover everything I'll ever need. 14,500lb. max. tow with 2200lb. tongue weight. Both 2" and 2 5/16" balls.
