How well does the white paint hold up? I live in NE Ohio and in years past, any stone chip would tend to spread and cause an ugly rust spot on white painted vehicles. Do the new white trucks fair better?

I have a white 98 and the paint seem to hold up fine. I just gave it a 200,000 mile light compound and wax job and it looks great

BTW this truck is for sale in the classifieds

My 99 with 167000 on the clock still looks good when washed, this is a work truck that gets a bath every 2 months or so. If i where to get a new truck white is the way to go in my book.

Have a white 03 that had paint problems when it was new. Shipped to a dealer in N. C. they sent it back to dodge to be re-painted. Ended up at a local dealer in western md as a left over, with a seven year paint warranty. I keep it waxed, do it several times a year, no problems yet. Everytime I wax it, I find little spots that I think could be rust specs, but they wax out. I either got a great deal or I wil end up with a rust bucket.

No! I have a 2005 and any little rock chips away at the bottom. I ended up putting Line-X on lower part of my truck

JEEZE guys, GET REAL! :D

Are any of you aware of ANY stock DC color paint that WON'T chip from rocks? Or, are some claiming white paint has some sort of rock-magnetism that attracts rocks more than the other colors? :-laf :-laf

I seriously doubt DC uses "special" body panel metals - or significantly different base coat prep for white vehicles as opposed to other colors - so not much basis for expecting/suggesting inevitable chip damage to differ between white trucks and other colors.

Most of our own past vehicles seem to have been, or are white - my truck is white, so is my wife's Ford Escape. White is FAR slower to show dirt, is especially great in hot climates due to its characteristic to reflect sun's rays, and when it DOES get blemished, is also easily touched up. It seems to be far more resistant to tendency to peel, judging by the relatively few I usually see so blemished in my travels.

It certainly isn't the most dramatic or impressive color - but it makes up for it in ease of maintenance and durability. ;)

White paint in Az seems to last twice as long as the factory metallics which seem to start flaking off in about 10 years. rust is nonexistent here, the UV rays are what do all the damage. white cars and trucks I've owned have lasted 15-20 years (before they were sold) with only heavy oxidation from lak of attention. My problem with the 05 CTD i now have is the beer can gauge sheet metal body panels they are using.

My 03 was one of the same repainted. I have a 10year warranty on the paint. I ended up with some paint coming off on the rocker panels. Warranty covered the repaint, and I also had chip gaurd put under the paint. But to answer the question on white paint, I believe it hold's up as well as any other color. The little rust spec's you are seeing is from your brake's. Detailing clay will also take it off. It is on every vehicle, it just stand's out on white.

Oh, I don't know about the first part. My 99 looks darn impressive after it's been clayed. :D It looks really impressive--glows, in fact--under white sodium lamps in a parking lot at night after being clayed. The truck's paint surface looks like glass. It's definitely easy to keep clean, except for the damn road tar #@$%! from "political dust control" as my dad put it. That's southern Indiana farmboyese for "double chip-and-seal" aka "poor man's pavement. "
