Anyone else have white staining of the insulation on the underside of the hood? I've had this replaced once by the dealer, they said they have never seen it before. Now that it is back again, I can't believe Im the only one.

I'll try to get a picture of it in the morning.

Thanks

Our 2015 3500 is the same. White stuff on liner under the hood. brush it off or vacuum and it returns. SNOKING

Calcium from water under the hood. I have had it on all 4 of my Rams. From cleaning the engine compartment.

The white powder is a fire retardant embedded in the insulation . I will need to look up the chemicql but i believe the initials are MAP.
In any event, water leaks around the edges of the washer nozzles and soaks the insulation. It is not the hoses leaking. There is a TSB. Easy fix is to remove the insulation and goop up the inside of the hood around the nozzles with silicone.
I posted details a few months ago on another forum but cant remember where. Will try to look it up.

The customer may notice a white crystalized build up on the hoodsilencer pad. This build up is actually MAP: Mono Ammonium Hydrogen Phosphate, afire suppressant added to the hood silencer pad. MAP is easily dissolved in water. When the hood is saturated gravity may pull some of the MAP down onto the bottomsurface of the silencer pad where it crystalizes
This is not a tsb just info

Water gets up between the hood liner and the hood from water running down the windshield. Especially on the passengers side, when it can't drain through the hole in cowl fast enough, it overflows under the hood and gets on top of the insulation there. It eventually soaks through and you get the white residue. If you drill out the hole a little larger, it drains faster, but it will still do it when you wash the truck or really heavy rain with the Passengers side down attitude of the truck. Ken Irwin

I'm having the same problem. See below Bulletin from Chrysler that I got from a Ram Dealer.

The excessive chemical treatment seeping out of the hood pad does not affect its performance in any way.
To clean the silencer pad, simply use soap and water and wipe away with a towel.
Verification: After cleaning verify the white substance on the silencer pad no longer exist. If it does, environmental conditions should be considered such as road salt. Fluid leaks within the engine compartment should also be considered.
