Fred I am not trying to be argumentative and since I don't own a DTT transmission I am not about to comment on them. However I can't help but notice a difference between what you are saying and what the DTT web sight says.

http://www.dieseltrans.com/dodge/exhaust_brake.htm

Look under Features and Benefits second item on both lists.

Feature, "Disengages lockup under full throttle"

Benefit, "Prevents excess TC wear"

This is what led the follow-up question I posted previously.

"Do locked clutches that aren't slipping wear? "

Fred could you answer that question please?

I take a stab at that one... ... ... ... That controler could be used on a stock TC and a stock trans with only a DTT VB in it. It is a stand alone unit. So if that was the case could maybe a stock trans with only a VB in it slip? It sure could. And if so would that be a problem with the DTT tran (that is not even there)? Of coarse not. But as it is a stand alone unit and it could be used in a case like that why not list that as a benifit. Now in a full DTT trans that benifit is just not needed. Look at it this way. Very few full DTT trans have a controler added. And how many DTT customers do you see complaining about about a burnedup TC? I don't think I have ever heard of one myself.

Edward, neither was I, I am merely stated Fact, as I have setup numerous DTT trannies with Smart Controllers.

What DTT states on their site is true, I just expand on the usage of the controller to broaden its usefulness. I've been installing their products over 3 years now.

Have you owned or riden in a truck in the situation I described? If you have, then you would know the scenario well. This is more prevalent on 3. 54 geared trucks running taller than stock tires, not 4. 10 geared trucks, per say. And not every truck I build wants 400 HP, so the range of applications vary widely.

To me, the more ways to use a product, truly strengthens its reasons for purchasing it in the first place.

I'm always looking for new ways to inform my customers on how to best utilize the DTT products, and this is a real world scenario, I'm positive most drivers have faced.

Sorry for the delay in replying to your post. I don't always see the thread update reminders, as my e-mail inbox can get quite full at times.

You automatic guys are funny, I like to read transmission posts when nothing else exciting is happening on the boards. Best transmission = NewVenture. Sorry I had to say it.

Cougar, I like the fact that there are some good trannies out there, and some knowledgeable people to stand up for there point of view. I drive a 98 12v, 4X4 Longbed towing a steel neckover stock trailer with some not so nice horses, up some pretty long hills, cajohn pass, grapevine, and morongo 1000 ft. up in less then 2 miles. I got the DTT with smart controller, It makes up for my lack of knowledge sometimes. I also have big tires on it. (trailer) not controller. I'm happy, I guess thats the bottom line. What makes YOU happy, happy hunting. Raven

Have a 99 quad w/auto 4x4 stock 134,000 miles. Last week it started hunting for 3rd/overdrive at 45-47 mph at moderate acceleration or when in that speed zone. At harder throttle will shift right thru. Any ideas? In Houston area.

DTT was put in by fred swanson in arizona, awsome transmission. had it installed at 85k and now have 130k and runs like brand new. i got the double deep pan so service is a snap. i also tow a 12k fifth wheel all over the country and this thing is great in the hills.

Thanks guys! DTT site said I may need a noise filter. Any experience with them?

It is just a capacitor soldiered in line on the orange/white wire in the loom over the a/c condenser. Someone will probably tell you what capacitor to get.

The single best investment I have made, was to buy a DTT trans. This completly street truck is my daily driver. It also plows in the winter and all summer long runs the 1/4 in the low low 12s I have launched this 600+ hp truck at over 35lbs of boost of the line and the transmission performs flawlessly. Oo. :D Merv
