I've dealt with this as far back as from the old site: Les Schwab out here on the west coast is trying to tell me that NO ONE makes 16"X7" aftermarket wheels that are the same as stock; which is to say they will slide over the big drums I have (which are on the truck cause of the "camper special"?!? or so he says). Furthermore, he says that the only thing I can do is get 16x8 rims, with a medium "offset", which I guess is sposed to make up for the fact these aftermarket wheels don't go over the drums. Guys, I'm tired of this crap..... is this guy blowing smoke up the lower cavity here, or what? My pal swears he has a set of basic ALCOAs that are 16x7s, I've seen them, and they don't stick out at all. I'm trying to just have a second set of wheels to have my hwy tires on, THATS ALL.

I know as soon as I post this someone will have something on their rig that will work- HELLLLPPPP!

I am in the same situation... I wanna put Y2K Dodge aluminum wheels on my 98. 5, but they won't fit in the back. I am thinking of getting the outside of the drums turned down... How about that??? #ad

I assume the reason they won't fit is because you have the Camper Special as well?????? This whole issue has got me too confused. Why can't one wheel from one Ram fit on the next... . ?!?!?!?

Dave B, Alcoa produces two different 16x7 forged aluminum wheels with the 8 on 6. 5 bolt pattern. One style, I believe named the Classic, looks almost identical to the M/T Alcoa Classics as well as the five-star LTS series. BTW, Alcoa produces the M/T wheels to M/Ts designs/specifications.

Dave B-

Try Stockton Wheel.
http://www.stocktonwheel.com/

I spoke to them on the phone a while back concerning the 4x4 Special. They make a 16x8 that adds 1/2" to the inside and 1" to the outside of the wheel for the 2500 Ram. It will accept the Dodge trim ring and center cap. If I remember correctly, the price was around 99. 00 per wheel. There wheels are offered in chrome, silver and "in the white". If you really want a 16x7, they could put it together. I was not sure from your post if you wanted aluminum aftermarket wheels but offered this as an alternative.

Evan & Dave,Maybe a set of wheel spacers would give your Y2K rims enough offset? or backspacing to clear your brake drums?

See an example here: http://www.mrlugnut.com/other.htm

They are available in different widths, 3/8, 1/2 ect. and different bolt circles. It seems our trucks have plenty of wheel stud left after the rim is on to accect a spacer.

An after thought: Guys with DRW may be able to fit a little wider tire on with a spacer in the middle or the wheels?

Warning: I`m not that familiar with how safe there are to run. I know in Drag racing they are illegal to use. Check with a reputable source. #ad
