I feel bad for this guy...

we have had pretty good luck with them in our family, just curious if anyone knew what company made them for mopar?

thanks

Johnson Controls makes 99% of the automotive batteries in the USA. I know they make the Mopar batteries too.

Yep. and Johnson Controls has a new battery plant in Mexico to supply the automobile manufacturing plants located there. I imagine Chrysler/Dodge installs them in our trucks built there. Usually Johnson Controls is shown on the label in fine print with the country of origin, but there is nothing on the battery labels in my truck. Our Honda's OE battery label had Johnson Controls in fine print and so does the Wal-Mart battery that replaced it.

According to "Consumer Reports" there are three major manufactures of batteries in the US. Johnson Controls at over half, with Exide and East Penn the other two major makers.

Exide makes Napa and East Penn makes Carquest.

Mine made it four years. Seems like the most you can expect is 4-5 years out of batteries anymore. If you ever run them dead their life is greatly reduced.

My truck is a 2002 and I still have the factory batteries in it, and they do get worked hard in the winter time in Alaska. The truck is parked outside and not always plugged in. I did just buy a Battery Minder to recondition them and see how long I can keep them going.

You my friend are one very charmed individual to get that kind of life out of an oem battery

My 03 still has the OEM's also, still show green in the little round windows, and tested "good" with my little handheld loadbank.

Yep, my '03 OEMs are still doing the job too. My truck is parked and not started for several days at a time and sometimes it goes several weeks before it's started.

I am working on an 03 that has the originals, though I think they might be getting weak. I took the originals out of my 01 about a year ago because it looked like they were getting acid on the fenders, now 1 battery is in a gas ford pickup and 1 is in a 4 cyl diesel tractor and still starting them everyday.

I have 7 years on mine and they are starting to get tired. Will be replaceing proably in the next couple of months. Always put a 2 amp trickle charger on them when I don't drive for awhile. I think I got my moneys worth.

thanks for the info guys. just something my dad and brother and i got to talking about the other night and was just curious. i new that in very short order i could find the answer on here.

My 03' still has the original batteries as well. I clean the terminals every couple of months, and keep a synthetic grease on the connectors too.

I still have the original batteries in my 02. I keep threatening to replace them just because they are now 9 years old. But, I've never had any trouble, and the green lites are still lit. I don't do any maint to them. The truck is always parked outside. Been thru some hot summers and some cold winters. No signs of acid, gunk, etc.

Original '03s here. Still show green dots, too (although the passenger side green dot isn't so green as it once was).

I have a sneaking suspicion they're getting weak, but maybe it's psychological.

TTerry - good to hear your experience. I hope I have that kind of luck.
