Just curious.....No new Fatwas??

What is up with this? I was talking to my girlfriends friend and he is like yeah i am going to wait to buy the new ford when they come out with the cummins in 2005. I said they are not going to put a cummins in the ford he said yeah they will scince they own cummins. I told him that they do not own cummins. I said they owned stock awhile back but not no more. He is like no they own cummins i was like what ever. Why are all these wana be's tring to say that their crap trucks are getting the best motor on the market? I think they are all brain washed!! O well i have one in my Dodge so I am happy:D :D

Because at one time Ford owned a large chunk of stock to the Cummins small engine division. (Small engine is the operative phrase here. ) They have since sold them. They never had a say or anything else. That is where this rumor comes from.

It's kinda funny that you guys bring this up cause last time I went over to to our local Cummins shop they actually had a piece of paper up by the cash register that states that Ford does not own Cummins and told the whole story.

So anytime I hear people talking about Ford owning Cummins I just simply say... Why don't you go down to Cummins and ask them if it is true!!!

They'll get the truth before they even have time to ask!!

The wife and I thought that this bulletin that was posted at Cummins was funny.

TSteston - Ask that guy one question for me... . If Ford owns Cummins, then why did they not put the ISB in the Ford Truck? I'd like to hear his explanation... LMAO

Your girlfriend's friend is a "he"? And "he" thinks Ford owns Cummins? Hmmm. I think you also need a friend and she should know that Ford doesn't own Cummins and never has. :D

I have heard the same from the power poke owners. I guess they are just jealous. They told me they wanted a cummins but needed 4 doors. They really look at me crazy eyed when I tell them they better get ready to trade trucks cause there will be a 4 door.

Don't have to wait until 2005. Ford already does put the ISB in their trucks. 650 and 750 only though. Could be expensive for a personal vehicle though.

Her friend is a he. Even my girlfriend knows that ford dose not own Cummins. She is always interested in the big old dodge but their is only one bad thing. She wants a Chevy. I like chevys but only the older ones. The new ones look like a$$. If I wanted a low riding truck i would have bought a extream not a 4X4.

I showed her the You might be a diesel head if. She is like you do almost all of this. :D

Later guys

I think one of the main reasons this rumor persists is because Ford dealer salesmen use it their sales pitch. It's like saying since Ford owns Cummins they could easily use a CTD but instead use the PSD because it's better.

Back in '93 a friend bought an F350 crew cab dually. He brought it by the house to show me and said it has a Cummins in it. When I told him it was a Navistar International he said, "my brother in law is a Ford mechanic in South America. It's a Cummins". In South America the F350 has a Cummins I4 TD. When he raised the hood for the first time and studied the engine, he was kinda tight faced. His brother in law had informed him that the International was very expensive to work on and he was much better off with the Cummins. But just the same, he now has over 170,000 miles on it and it's only needed a water pump and a camshaft position sensor. The transmission was rebuilt at around 75,000. He drives it like he stole it. Not bad for an inferior American made truck.

Chevy? If I could afford both, I wouldn't mind having a Silverado with an Isuzu V8 followed by the Allison transmission. Not exactly my bottle of beer but I am intrigued (sp?) by it. I bought the Dodge for the Cummins. If I were to buy a Chevy it would be for the Allison. If I were to buy a Tundra it would be because I'm a Mr. Rogers fan. NOT!

Ya think it might be wishful thinking by the ford guys?!:D

If I had a choice, I would rather have the Cummins in a ford, Always drove a ford before getting my old first gen but after having the Cummins, will never go back to gas and will buy a truck based on who has the Cummins.

sales meetings

The Service Manager at my local dealer just informed me that Ford owns Cummins---I laughed and looked him straight in the eye and said "no they don't".

He persists in his notion and he got is at a sales meeting.

BTW the Ford store and Dodge store are in the same house in this small town.

I told him I'd be back with proper information.

And screw their warranty, I'm going to Cummins for a LP.

It is true that Ford salesmen tell customers that. Recently I was talking to a friend of my son in law who is in fact a Ford salesman. He said the same and I tried to tell him but he would not listen. I am sending him a link to the Cummins site.

THEY DO TOO!

is what the mechanic (the diesel tech--who has worked for Ford for 20 years) told me after I took them a copy of the Cummins.com FAQ page listed here in another post.

I suppose I'll have to get an investment report from both companies...

Anyway I think I'm going to print up some t-shirts that say something like "Stop the Rumor" on the front and "CUMMINS is not owned by Ford" on the back.

Anybody want one?
