My English Major Wife said the below would be easier to understand. Your facts are correct but were hard for me to understand.

"Rear GAWR is 9750 lbs on a current 3500 DRW 4x4. At 80psi the 4 rear tires are rated at 11,340 lbs."

Not trying to be nit picky!

No sweat. Also an English major (Professional Writing/Journalism), and your wife is correct, a period there would have been more effective than the dash. Just wanted to make sure I clarified what was meant, since you did misunderstand.

Cruising up the lake from Elkhart-Erie to Houghton, NY

Back on flat land again finally. Towing in my sweet spot with 3.73s and 19.5" tires. If I drift down to 1500-1600 RPMs the energy is lacking a bit. If I keep 1750-1900 RPMs the engine is much more responsive. While in Elkhart the wife and I test drove a 2017 dually aisin with 4.10s. What a beast. It had air suspension. First comment from my wife was this truck rides NO better than our truck. I checked the air pressure. 65 psi front and back. Got it up to 50 MPH and first thing she said was the truck felt squirmy. Below is towing my sweet spot.

I do like that white instrument gauge cluster.

Wow, a better ride with H-rated tires? That's impressive. Was the skwirminess with a 5'er in tow?

I don't understand why your signature says 17.5" H rated tires?

View the YouTube video and pay attention to around 7:15 minute point. The tester finally admitted the drive was a little squirrelly at higher speeds with the 30k in tow. I viewed this video a while ago and heard this statement. Now you can call me being critical of the RAM. Take my statement as you like. I have been a proponent of the rating of 30k towing and I personally think it is dangerous and should never have been rated this high unless RAM placed the truck with 19.5" tires. I have toad heavy with my RAM with factory 17"s and later added 19.5"s and there is absolutely NO comparison in handling. It is a sales gimmick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Agtl2YEhwzo

Truck has 14 ply 19.5s and coach has H rated 17.5s.

Towing doubles at 35,340# combined my truck is ROCK solid. Add another 5k and I guarantee it would be no different. The FACT is my pin weight is at least as much if not more than the vid above.

The test drive should have been in ALT ride height with 30-35psi rears.

12V I am not sure what you mean by towing double. It is not the pin weight that matters. The wag danger comes from the 25+k that is on the rear part of the first trailer that is violently putting side to side squirm on the rear of your dually. The tail wags the dog. Now lets talk about your double towing. I suppose your first trailer is a gooseneck. What is your second trailer and how is it connected to the first trailer? How much tongue weight and how much total axle weight on first trailer?

Here are my weights. The last number 1,780# is the weight on my single axle MC trailer being towed my my 5er. My weight being towed is around 25K with about 6K pin weight.

If the truck in vid was "squirrlley" the pin weight was not enough. 5er's and gooseneck track extremely well if there is enough pin.

30/35 psi...is that air bags or drive tires?

My guess is, the 15% pin weight on the test truck was due to the 14,000 GVW rating of a 3500 dually. But yes, I agree, 15% wasn't enough for stability.

30-35psi is for the truck rear tires when unloaded. My factory rear air ride is a closed system, no idea what it does.

For sure they were not exceeding 9,750# RAWR. But that load at 15% is only 4,500# and would not even come close to the RAWR with that load.

Ok just watched the vid.

If "QUOTING" what someone says it might be nice to actually say what they said!

Test guy said "It towed that like it was nothing, however I did feel a little bit of sway pushing thru the corners because I drive like an idiot" That quote is very close to his exact words. He also said "towed like it was nothing".

So saying "little squirrelly at higher speeds with the 30k in tow" gives a different impression of what the test driver ACTUALLY said.

I think someone is trying to justify not buying a new truck.

Do you know the capacity of the hitch on the rear of your coach? What brand hitch do you have in truck?
