I often wonder why they do not make the exhaust brake turn on the brake lights? When traveling with friends I warn them that my rig will slow without the brake lights coming on, so do not tailgate.

I think it could cause more harm them good because some people automatically brake when they see lights, even though it's not warranted, causing a chain reaction by everyone.

My eldest daughter is a tailgater. She's moaned at me a few times about the exhaust use on my truck when traveling together. I simply tell her, "Honey", "Stop driving up my *****, and you'll be fine".

Not a very good idea, I have thought about that too, and some guy sitting on your bumper when you really hit the brakes .

Fellow drivers will just have to start driving smarter and leave distance as they should. We should not have to drive there cars to as we drive ours and remain safe. A few of the newer cars have a flashing high tail lite that comes on when the brake pedal is touched, for a few seconds. But you have to be quick to see it some times. That might help to warn followers if it could be integrated some how. Some motor cycles have a flashing stop light upon application, maybe that could be integrated.

Yes that would be great in the perfect world, but thats why its called defensive driving, we are NEVER going to have some people driving smarter. IMO its going to just get worse.

Some transit express coaches (NJ Transit for sure) have exhaust brakes, and there are amber flashing lights up high in back that go on decel. Independent from brake lamps.

When I was a kid a friend's father patented a set up that had a green, amber and red light. Green pedal down, amber coasting, red braking. He was on "What's my Line" with it. He thought it would be good for all the logging trucks on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. SNOKING

I agree. A lot of people that own 3/4 tons never even use the truck as designed. They make bro dozers out of them, complete with led light bars, white powder coated wheels, and brag at the fueling station they they get 29 mpg.

More power in a 2500 series truck is strictly a ego issues. SNOKING

Actual RAM is smarter in their approach, as you can get into a lower HP 2500 for a much larger delta in price difference against the Aisin/3500 vs GM's and Ford's which have a narrow separation of price between the 250/2500 vs 350/3500.

When I was looking to buy my Ram, I test drove many trucks. The Ram won out hands down. For power and speed. I am used to driving Semi Trucks & Trailers for a living and operating heavy equipment. I feel that the Ford Super Duty is really overrated, the Duramax is so so. Cat doesn't make an over the road diesel anymore. A Detroit Diesel would be a good motor, if available. I believe they were bought out by Diamler-Chrysler in 1999 or 2000. They were originally owned by GM.

I'd like to see the standard output stay the same, and the introduction of a High Output with 460 HP, 1000 ft-lb, and compound turbos.

That would make for a frighteningly fast large pickup truck. From Motor Trend's 2017 Truck of the Year testing:
F250 Crew 4x4 short bed, 440/925, 3.55 axle: 0-60 in 6.9 seconds
F350 Crew 4x4 DRW long bed, 440/925, 4.10 axle: 0-60 in 7.6 seconds
Ram 3500 Crew 4x4 DRW long bed, 385/900, 4.10 axle: 0-60 in 8.6 seconds

A Ram with 460/1000 might get to 6 seconds in the crew/short-bed form.

I really don't care if I beat an F250 off the line from a stoplight (unloaded).

That's not why I chose the inline 6 over the V8.

If I want to drive fast and waste fuel I would by a Ram 1500 S/B with the 6.4L Hemi. I bought a Ram 2500 with a 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel to be able to have a vehicle that I know will tow or haul anything I want to haul, be it a Cargo Trailer, or a 5th Wheel Toy Haul or a 6 horse trailer with living quarters. I can safely say the me and my wife are not the Little Old Man or the Little Old Lady from Pasadena. Thank You Jan & Dean. That song brings back a lot of good memories from my growing up year.:-laf

???? Yet, you bought only a 2500? Why not a 3500 or 3500 duallie if you wanted to haul anything .......

2015 3500 Laramie SRW SB 4x4, Deep Cherry Red over Silver, Buckets/full console, Aisin, Nav, Keyless. Picture 2017 Bighorn 3575el 5th wheel

My sister in law has a 1999 Ram 2500 Quad cab with a 5.9L CTD SRW. she pulls a 35ft. 4 horse goose neck trailer with living quarters. I have a 28ft. Carson Hiway Cargo Trailer Bumper pull I do not have my truck set up for a Goose Neck or 5th Wheel Trailer. For as often as I am going to pull my Cargo Trailer I don't need a dually or a 1 ton truck. I have been using a 3/4 ton truck to pull my Cargo Trailer since we bought it in 2001. I can also pull my cargo trailer with my 2005 Fleetwood 26Q Jamboree with no problems. My Ram pulls that cargo trailer like it was not even there.
