I'm planning on installing a Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller in my '85 Crew Cab converted over to Cummins (complete with '92 dash and wiring). I'm an electrical dummy, if you will, and after doing a search here I'm wondering if I'm in danger of burning my truck to the ground. I read several articles about trailer wiring needing to be seperate and having circuit breakers, etc. I have a 4-pin connector, it is one of the kits thats plugs in the back where the tailight wiring harness connects to the body wiring harness. This fits "in between" those plugs. The trailer I'm towing is just a car hauler... it this not an adviseable setup??
For the brake controller, I have printed off the manufacturer's instructions which seem quite straight-forward... is it OK to just splice the "brake" wire (blue wire in their case) of the controller into the brake wire of the trailer wiring harness?
Thanks guys.
