Competition Dyno'd Today

Competition DHRA Season Opener.

I'm considering building a pulling truck and have a question. Does anyone know if the Wheel Mount Surface of a 3500 rear is narrower than a 2500? I know awhile back there were what is known as a "tow truck" rear and "box truck" rear. The "tow truck" rear was usually narrower! Is anyone going this route or just changing the backspace on the rear wheels? I guess I should state that this would be a '94 and newer truck.

i took a dana 80 out of a 0ne ton cab and chassis truck and bolted it directly under my 95 2500 that had a dana 70 in it. the drums look kinda funny hanging out of the wheels but it looks great. later, nick

I'm looking for a track width in the rear that is narrower than the front. I've seen a couple people run 10" wheels in the front and 8" in the rear. The reason I don't like this is your losing tire contact with the ground on the rear. If a dually rear is narrower than a single wheel, you could run 10" wheels front and rear and have two different track widths. Make any sense??

I think they are the same or very close--probably not enuff to make a difference in what you are trying or wanting to accomplish IMO--chris

sounds like a tape is needed. .

I believe that a pick up truck dually 1 ton rear end is 4" narrower than a "standard" rear end. . a cab and chasis truck usually runs a standard non narrowed rear end but I'm not 100% on that

i have 16" x 10" rims and 305/70 tires on my 95. with the one ton rear end the rear tires are about 1. 25"-1. 5" closer in to the truck than the front end. some people also put rim spacer's on the front end to make them stick out wider. later, nick
