I just came across 4 next to new Michelin XPS tires at a price I could not refuse, when I went to price two more to complete the set I was told they would be $190. 00 each. Does this sound right? And does anyone have experience with the XPS tire?

these tires are really heavy duty. I have 6 of them on my motorhome. I will never wear the tread out, as the sidewall will go first. The last ones I had lasted 7 years. Just check the date of manfacture on the sidewall. They may look new but could be several years old. Good luck:)

mstepler, Willyslover has 6 on his 2001 dually. I have talked with him about them, as I am seriously considering a set for offroad use. For one thing, they are one of, if not the only light truck tire that has steel belts in the sidewall, which appeals to me for offroad use, as I have managed to blow holes in the sidewalls on two of the Michelin LTX M/S stock tires

At my Costco in Sacramento, they have one version of the XPS in the largest size they make - 235/75/16s for something like $160 each. However, Gary told me there are two different tread versions of the tire. I forget what he said they were called, and he had the more aggressive version. There is also a version called the XPS Rib, which is purely a highway tread, not an aggressive offroad/all terrain type of tread. This might be what Gary was referring to. I do not know what he paid.

PM or email him and ask him about the tires. He definitely loves them.

Thanks for the info I think Im going to get them put on this weekend. By the way they are the XPS Rib with the straight tread. Any idea on how they might ride with the steel belted sidewall?

XPS Ribs

I have been using the XPS for about a year now and they ride well and if they ever wear out I will buy another set.

I've had the XPS ribs on the rear of my 96 dually for two and a half years now. They are excellent. Run them on two Alcoa's and two stock steel on the inner rears. Have not rotated or had to rebalance in +40K miles with even tread wear.

I run smaller size (225-75-16) than stock for increased gear ratio and it also lowered the truck 1 inch from what the 236-85-16 tires did. I also run at 70 psi.

I have LTX M/S on front that I bought 3 months earlier than the XPS and wish I had the XPS's.

don't knwo exactly how much I paid because it was a package deal, mounting / dismounting 6 tires, 4 new XPS, valve stems, McGard Chrome lug nuts, McGard Chrome Locks, front and rear Alcoa center caps and a lifetime road hazard / rebalance from Discount Tire. It was a good deal though I do remember that.

My son just replaced his XPS Ribs at 79k with 3/32" of tread remaining. (96 CTD Long Box QC, Auto, 3:54) They were getting a little skatie in the rain down here. He put the Michelin LT A/S on.

We'll see how they go. If I remember they had 15/32" of tread new. You can do the math and check yours with a depth guage.

They have them at the Sam's club here in Springfield Mo. for $156. 00 per tire. They are XPS Rib 235/85/16 they are retreadable. They also weigh a ton. I have the LTX/MS on mine. I did not think you could mix tires on a truck? I thought that was dangerous? If it wasn't I would start replacing my LTX's with the XPS Rib tires. I would just buy two new XPS Rib tires for the front and run the LTX's on the rear until they woreout, and then replace them with the XPS Rib's.
