Here's the problem. At slow speeds, turning either left or right, the steering wheel feels as though it is bucking back and forth.

The feeling is similar to that of being in a tight turn in four wheel drive, but I'm in 2 wheel drive.

Is it the stabilizer?

Track Bar?

Front Diff. ?

Steering Box?

Other things?

p. s. , the truck does wander on heavily crowned roads and have some play in the steering.

I have the exact same symptoms. Just got it back from the dealer yesterday, and they couldnt find any problems, except for the pull to the right, and they couldnt find a fix for it yet.

steering problems

Jack up the front end, turn the steering wheel hard left. Rotate the tire by hand, if it gets hard then soft to turn your front U-Joint is bad. When they start to go bad they do it in turns only.

I just got a call from the shop...

It is the passanger's side front axle joint. GOOD CALL GUYS!

I'm also having him check for wear on the steering stabilizer, track bar and front braking components while he's working in that area.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but my 01 is at the dealer for all 4 ball joints and a track bar. My alignment shop diagnosed the problems, and since I have an extended warranty I had to take it to the dealer, so they could diagnose it also, why, I have no idea, but after $60 in diagnostic fees, they both say the same thing, but the warranty service has to send an adjuster up to look at it because the dealer is quoting $ 1700. 00 to do the work. I need to learn how to do this work so I can after the warranty is up. I haven't had the truck for 2 days, and the parts aren't even ordered yet.
