I have 2 a 95 with 209,000 on the clock that is my daily driver and a 2001 with 140,000 on the clock it was my daily driver until I got the 95 about 2 years ago
I got the 95 as a truck that had not seen very good care I got it for $1300.00 but it says a lot about how much lack of care these trucks can take and come back
the motor still had good compression 1 thru 5 all had with in #10 0f 375 number 6 was at #355 I put about $7000.00 in the truck plus paint and now I will not sell it
I love it The 01 I got with 20,000 on it and has been a great truck now it mainly tows our RV with an occasional other job I love that these trucks are simpler than
the new ones and an old fart like me can still work on them.

Nice ride!

Thanks, it's almost exhaustive to try to keep up with it in the great salt belt. Yearly KROWN chassis treatments, one good buff job each spring followed by a wax job and another in the fall before the **** flies.

Ford seems to be catching a lot of flak for going to the all aluminum body, but I'd gladly welcome one around here......an aluminum body that is......not a Ford......:-laf

well my ol girl got long in the tooth so at 480k i trader her in for a two year newer one with 490k :) but i have not been driving this one for the last 11 years so its in much nicer shape. love the 12v cant seem to keep away from them. this new one is going to be by baby for along time to come but i sure do envy you southern guys the cold and salt up here in northern canada kicks the crap out of your trucks

I'll always have one. They are stout as a mule, and do any work you can do with a pickup. Given their age, repair/rebuild is a constant - fix what breaks, get to other things when time and money allow. Newer iterations are complex enough to eclipse my mechanical capabilities (and desires), so I'll plug along with a 12 valver, and have really enjoyed the performance of the '96 with the NV 4500 - great power, good economy, reliable.

I stay in newer vehicles for my work.

The bumper is an UTE made in Australia. There was a group buy years ago on them. Mine was one of the first ones that were imported here, and needless to say that I am very happy with it.

Until three days ago, I'd have to say it was my primary vehicle, and then the transmission bit the dust!! :{

Can't much complain, for all the complaints on the auto-magics, it went 170,000 and about 18 years! Too much arthritis for me to pull and rebuild in December, so I will farm this one out.

NO thought on replacing. I did look about 4 years ago and had to seek medical treatment for sticker shock.

I have two vehicles I drive to work, and everywhere else, the 97 Dodge, and a 91 Volvo 240 wagon, hard to say which is more reliable, but I do love them both.

ours is a 2001.5 1 ton dually extended cab 5.9 diesel we bought in late 2000 new. at first we drove it all the time, to school, groceries, pulling a trailer for camping but the last few years it has sat. sometimes for a month at a time because we was too busy working. It just rolled over to 100,000 and has been a good truck. We bought a new 5th wheel this spring and plan on pulling it to go camping several times a year. ( my wife and I decided theres more to life than working )
it needs some power upgrades we will start on this spring.

I just got back from a trip to the Baja pulling our 5th wheel. Edmonton, Alberta, to Cabo San Lucas and back (12400 kms). Replaced the alternator on my return into the US, but otherwise trouble free. I never plug into Mexican power, so I'm even willing to excuse the alternator. 1997 Laramie 4x4 extended cab long box 226K kms. I keep looking at the new trucks, but can't justify the $$ when the 1997 gives me no issues. We left the 5th wheel in CA and brought back a truck load of furniture. Filled the truck up in Shelby, Montana, and it's now sitting in the garage with just under 1/2 tank. Arizona to Montana 80+ mph, 22+mpg (Cdn). My father bought the truck new, but it's been my daily driver in the last couple of years.
