Time For A transmission! Help!

Well, I guess it is time to do the transmission on my 2003. It has the auto re48 junk. I have 90,000 miles on it and it is in bad shape. It slips, and is always searching between 2nd and 3rd. Lock-up is inconsistent as well.



I have a few mods and plan on more... . Smarty next week! I can't wait. I also have a 4" MBRP Exhaust along with an AFE Stage II, and I have all the gauges to go with it as well.



Here are a few questions that I have:



1. ) Does anyone know of a good transmission shop in the Chicago area?



2. ) Can I beef up the stock transmission and if so, what should I do?



3. ) Anything else I should know / be aware of.



Sorry if this question has been asked a million other times, however I tried a search and the list too long... LOL. I greatly appreciate any and all information you can share with me.

Gee thats too bad that junk 48RE running behind a modified engine only made it to 90,000 miles.

I would call Dusty at HTS he is a great builder... There are also a few more but he is my favorite

Well, I guess when you look at it like that you are right... . It is partly my fault and I do have 90,000 miles on it. However, that aside, I have had issues with this trans. since I bought the truck. It has gotten the job done, but it has always searched for gears (Like many other people have experienced too!). I had it in for service while under warranty several times. After DC giving the usual BS and little help, I learned to deal with the constant searching for gears. However, my trans is now at a point that need repair / replacement.



Look, I'm not trying to waste your time or anyone's time for that fact. I'm not looking for a pity party either. I'm a big boy and I realize it is going to cost me some $$$. Again, I just need some information. I really don't need smart *** answers.
