Just passed 500,000kms(310,000k) last week. Still have the original vp-44 , injectors and 53 block. The only items replaced on the engine Apps, alternator, starter contacts. All other componets like water pump, airconditioning pump, power steering/vac pump sensors, idler pulley etc are original. Truck runs like new, never refused to start, no run or driveability problems. On fourth lift pump, moved back on frame after number three. Fuel system is still standard with no up grade of fuel line sizes, still has banjo bolts.

$4,300 to fix fuel delivery issues in 4 years and counting...

At about 66K miles & 6. 5 years my engine mounted 98. 5 24 valve transfer pump and VP44 high pressure pump went out. Dodge dealer and Chrysler refused to cover this.

2-3 years later at about 90K miles the transfer pump had to be changed to the Dodge in-tank fuel pump. Transfer pump was leaking fuel out of the electrical connector. I told dealer earlier there was a low level diesel smell outside the truck since the VP44 + Transfer Pump replacement - in fact took truck back 2x in the two weeks following VP44/Transfer pump replacement but was told it was "normal" to have a slight diesel small stay around indefinitely after fuel system is opened up - this is not correct and most likely the transfer pump was leaking ever since it was first installed. Dodge dealer and Chrysler refused to cover the in-tank fuel pump, then the Dodge dealer went out of business suddenly shortly thereafter.

10 months later at about 98K miles truck started to have hard start / long start / slow start issues discussed in https://www.turbodieselregister.com.../213323-hard-start-long-start-slow-start.html Still trying to resolve this issue.

Mine *might* be nearing break-in at nearly 65K miles - just keeps running and shifting better all the time - and my grin just gets wider as the miles roll on by! :-laf:-laf

Been awhile. The '99 is about ready to trip the 200k mark. The '01 is closing in at 196k. Had to replace the VP on the '01 at about 175k, but not sure what the history on the truck was before I purchased it with 75k on the odo.

Knock on wood, that '01 still has the original auto trans in it . . . still feels solid. Made it to Cape San Blas, Florida and back this spring with no problems. The '99 made it through another season of snowplowing with no hiccups.

I have 157000 on my 2001 2500 auto. It has been a great truck. Replaced AAPS under warranty, Trans at 98000 under warranty. I feel the trans might have been my fault. You guys got me so freaked out about the trans that I did over maintenance. I think I over tighted the bands. Other then those two major items, rotted exhaust, 2 lift pumps, 2 heated mirrors and 2 track bars and they just had a little play but I want the front end tight. Not bad for 9 year old vehicle with 157000+ miles

Truck has edge ez since new, Banks 4 inch exaust & 285/75r16 tires. otherwise stock

My truck has 132K now. Fresh new transmission, new VP about 2 mos. ago,new SSI track bar,new dash, new ball joints, new hub on driver side, new steering box,new FASS,new rear brake line and now it looks like a rear driveshaft seal at Xfer case.

Oh! and the A/C doesn't work..... keeps my wife out of the truck:):-laf
