Well, my Granatelli (BullyDog Outlook copy) finally gave up the other day... the LED backlighting hasn't worked for a while and it started doing resets while driving down the road. Feel like I'm driving blind, although I've never really needed them.

I'd like to go with something like the Outlook again (long since discontinued), since it had rail pressure as one of the parameters. Been out of it long enough that I haven't kept up on the new technology (the Quadzilla display was the latest and greatest when I was looking way back then). I like the flexibilty of the all-in-one digital displays since most of them seem to allow some user defined parameters.

What's the current all-in-one that seems to be doing the trick these days? I guess at a minimum I need boost, pyro, and rail pressure.

Steve...

I am also going to suggest the Edge Insight as well.

Have you ever though about having a second OBDII port installed or just thought of moving yours so its not causing any issues?... ... Andy

Do you have any problems with it connected to the OBD port, like hitting the connector?

Steve I have a system connected constantly to the OBD-II port. I simply removed the OBD connector from its cutout in the dash (it just snaps in), plugged in my connector, then wire-tied the pair up under the dash in a convenient spot. There's more than enough slack in the wiring.

Piece of cake.

I didn't know the connector could be moved that easy... so that answers that problem.

As was asked, does the Insight give all the parameters on the 04. 5 trucks... I'm really concerned only with boost, pyro, and rail pressure; but anything else would be bonus.

I believe a 4. 5 will be the same as my 06, I ususally look at boost, egt, rail pressure and trans temp, it will do a whole range of other things but those are the 4 I look at

hook up is simple as reported, I got a dash pod with mine, I bought it used off of another diesel website, I did hire a professional to drill the hole for the egt probe

I had a Edge Juice in my 01' and got used to the guages so that's why I wanted an Insight, I did not want the chip, the display looks exactly like my Juice without the power settings but many more diagnostics

I really like it and wouldn't drive without it now

I know that many of the guy don't care for Banks equipment, but I had the Ottomind system with a PDA and upgraded to the IQ, has egt, engine temp, boast, rail pressure, and others. Mounted mine down low to the left of the radio, looks like a gps unit.

I dont want anything to do with any power enhancer I have seen the Banks and have a bud that has one and he loves it but with all the problems people that have them have I dont know if the GRIN :D on my face is worth the performance related problems. I bought the truck knowing the fuel mileage and ill just live with it as for the HP mine is fine for me and what we do with it. I have no problems with Banks seems like they might have thought about how they do things other than just jack the fuel to it and hope for the best.

Finally got my Insight CS installed last night. I've only have it a month...

It does a lot of parameter... and interestingly enough, it reads coolant temp, boost, and injection pressure different than the Granetelli. Boost is reading lower and reacts slower, engine coolant is 10* lower, and injection pressure is about 1kpsi higher. If I didn't know better, I'd bet the granetelli read the MAP sensor data for boost. I have not installed the pyro yet...

IAT runs almost 10* warmer than ambient, which is interesting because we had the CAI discussion and I was told it would be so much higher.

The only strangeness was my fan was engaged this AM... and when I checked codes, I got a fan speed code. Doubt the Insight installation is related... something else to keep an eye on I guess. Thinking about buying a new truck next year... hopefully it will hold together for another 50k.

I wasn't involved in the referenced discussion. I've been monitoring IAT for years and it is consistently +10°F over the ambient temp sensor +/- ~2°F. Once in a great while I've seen as much as +15°F above ambient.

My airbox pulls air from under the hood (drilled with holes)... its not pulling all its air from outside the engine compartment.

Well, we might expect the air change rate far forward in the engine compartment is pretty high. So I remain unsurprised you're getting ~10°F over ambient consistently.
