Wife's 98. 5 2500 is wetting the right front carpet. I checked the drain and it seemed clear. Ran several hundred miles one night without the a/c and it stayed dry. When it is on, the carpet gets wet. Can't seem to find where it is coming from, has anyone had this problem?

I think that over the years the seal on the firewal dries out and allows the dripping water that is blown back to get inside the truck. I found a rubber elbow of the right size and clamped it to the drain nipple. A short piece of hose will work also.

If you have access to compressed air, hold a blow nozzle at the drain exit and hit it with a blast of air. The drain may be crusted over inside the housing. Not a good idea to stick anything up in there. bg

Mine did that going to KC one time when I got to KC I put a 6 inch heater hose on the ac drain it helped but the carpet still got wet. When I got back home I put a 2 ft heater hose on it that stopped it (clamped it on).

After you clamp that hose on and solve your problem it`s a good idea to pull up your carpet and get it completely dry so it doesn`t grow moldor mildew.

I use a plastic cable tie (aka zap strap) to clean the drain. Flexible & stiff. Some people add an elbow or tubing the tube at the firewall because weird air flow at speed keeps it from draining.

I posted the same issue a few months ago. The excellent advice from the forum led me to purchase a 5/8" heater hose with a 90 degree bend from NAPA. I think the part number is 9808. It was around 12-13 dollars but the bend is perfect. I attached this to the condenser drain and put a hose clamp on it. I put an electrical cable tie on the lower portion to secure it to a non sprung attachment. This completely fixed the problem with mine. Hope it works for you.

That is what I did. So far it works perfect.

Great solution. I did it to my 05. The factory drain line is too short.

Can someone describe where the factory drain is... ? I think mine may be leaking, too as the passenger side carpet is wet.

Thanks.

The drain is located behind the plastic fender flare, on the passenger side firewall. Mine plugs from time to time and I use anything on hand to clean it out. Typically a paper clip.

Mine was leaking into the cabin as well (when not plugged) I made a seal with a small round piece of old wet suit material, cut it in the shape of a donut and slide it over the drain tube. No leaks in several years now.

I could never find it until someone pointed it out to me the other day. And if the a/c wasnt running at the time, I still dont think I would have seen it.

On my truck, it comes right out of the firewall right behind what I think is probably the compressor. I expected to find the tube to be in a verticle position. But it is horizontal coming out of the firewall.

When it was pointed out to me, if the a/c hadnt been running and the tube dripping, I dont think I would have noticed it. I had to stand on a stool and use a flashlight to see it. Good luck
