I found an old site with a link to a modification to use PIAA model 510 lights as the fog lights. Anyone know how its done... And are they much more durable than the stock ones? I busted one of my stock ones again and its got water in it, and the lens is cracking all across it. I want to mount them in the stock location, using the stock wiring if possible.

Thanks

Craig

Pretty easy to do, when you order the 510 lights also order the Ram install brackets from PIAA, which work good and make it possible to align them nicely within the OEM fog light holes.

Not sure about wiring into the stock system for trucks that came with fog lights, should be able to wire into the original harness. Those without they have a slick little on/off switch that's easy to mount on the dash somewhere.

For you folks without the OEM fog lights you can order the fog light inserts from Dodge (suggest Mopar4less.com) for about $20 per side. You do have to remove the bumper then the bumper mount pieces to get them in, but it's worth it.

They are definitely tougher/stronger and higher quality than OEM by far. I believe the lenses are replaceable too (but they cost a few bucks).

So

So the PIAA's 510's work... and you can get mounts that mount right up to the factory bolts on our trucks? How much tougher are the lenses than stock? I think Im going to do this THIS week.

Just found it...

Just found the kit number. Its the PIAA 30195. I found it online for about 35 bucks... Plus the 510 lights. Should be pretty easy.

Anyone know what kinda bulbs they take?

Vaughn-- Does this work with the factory auto trans cooler? AFAIK, factory fogs were not available with Cummins & automatic due to interference at the coolet.

thanks

How did you wire those in? My '95 has plugs to support factory fog lights but I need to find the light side of those plugs. Also FYI I was told today that the PIAA mount kit is no longer available. I've got lights on the way - going to make my own mounts.

Mine didn't have the factory plugs so I used wiring that came with the PIAAs. It was pretty complete as I recall, I think it included a relay. It also came with a nice little pushbutton switch.
