Do your research on options first. Some of this will be covered in the next TDR. For example, be sure the Ram will fit in your garage wih the longer crew cab vs. the older Quad Cab. If you ever might want a fifth wheel or gooseneck, be sure to get the prep package; it only costs $400 and you don't want Bubba welding on that high tensive 50 KSI frame of your new 3500. With the double overdrive of the automatics, 4. 10 is much more practical and universal in applicability than in the past.

Not sure what's included in the prep package, but the main reason I purchased a Pullrite 5th wheel hitch was that they offered a rail kit that was specific to my truck, so no holes to drill or welding to the frame. The kit utilized the existing holes.

What holes are you talking about?

I would rather be rear ended with a Honda that has insurance than an Illegal Emigrant with His uninsured 76 Granada, or a Semi, in CA both are very common, you should be tankfull, if you had rear ended the Pilot that women would not have been happy with you and your Dodge I suspect

I don't like Pilot's.

I was sitting still waiting for traffic on I-5 and a older lady rear ended me at 30mph I was in my 98 12V Ram. She hit so hard that the seat belt broke her sternum. Her air bag did not go off even tho she hit me dead center she was nose diving on impact. I still hurt from that little Honda!

FYI If you have uninsured motorist coverage, You don't have to pay your deductible if one of Obama's darlings without insurance is found at fault. [ and it probably gets their POS off the road for good. ] Also if they try to sue you even if it was your fault, they cannot collect for medical, if they did not have insurance. The way it is in Cali !

We gave Costco's Auto Program a try when we picked up our 2013 VW Passat TDi. It worked very well for us.

The Costco program will direct you to a preferred dealer who will show you the vehicle's invoice as well as the negotiated Costco preferred selling price. We had to pay a couple of hundred over invoice because of the limited 2013 Passat inventory.

Many vehicles will be hundreds or even thousands below invoice. It all depends on the inventory on hand and factory and /or dealer incentives.

Be sure to research the rebates and other incentives on the internet so you'll know where you stand. Usually the end of the month is good bargaining time. Check around. Many credit unions offer fleet rate buying referrals. Ask all you friends/relatives as well.

For folks East of the Mississippi I have heard many folks recommend Steve White Motors in Newton, NC. Check there site and give them a call. Several friends have used their price structure to drive a better deal locally.

I wish the TDR would hook up with some dealers (and forum sponsorship), and have some member preferred pricing like the "Corvette Forum" does.

Good luck on your quest.

What holes are you talking about?

You mean "Pilot" holes? Sorry, couldn't resist. lol

Holes that already exist on the frame rail that other suspension components connect to and some brackets. The only holes that they drilled were through the bed which you would have to do with any kit.

I used a broker thru a credit union some years ago. Deal was clean, easy and no fuss decent price. . If I had cash in hand, I go straight to the dealer. My 1st new 3500 was thru a dealers fleet manager. Great deal, invoice no haggle and away I went. I used AAA on my last purchase and was not completely satisfied as " tow package" to me means all equip neede to tow minus 5 th hitch etc . Apparently to him, not truck savy, it meant something else.

I want you to know that your issue and CBari's crew cab fold flat floor fiasco ( oh look, 4 F's... almost a stutter:D) are on my list of questions for the RAM folk at Columbus. I will PM both of you when I arrive and get contact info in case they would like to talk to you or share the progress of a fix. Or even establish some e-mail communication.

Mike.

Mwilson,
While your talking to Chrysler could you mention something about designing a 4x4 truck that's sits the height of a 2wd truck! It would be great to have a low bed to work out of and easier cab entry.
