I asked this question on another thread "stupid Radiator question" Why do I need the Aux radiator if the main radiator is the same size as the newer single radiator trucks?

Its Not, dual radiators surface are is more than the current single, An A/C condenser is at the front, followed by an auxiliary radiator. Next is an oil-to-air transmission oil cooler (TOC) mounted high in the module so it extends above the condenser and auxiliary radiator. Below it (behind the auxiliary radiator) is the power steering cooler. At the rear is the primary radiator, which also contains an oil-to-coolant TOC. A turbocharger air-to-air cooler (CAC), which is much wider than the others, mounts below the bottom line of the other heat exchangers in the stack, spanning the width of the oil-air TOC and primary radiator.
The Aisin running temps are higher than the 68RFE, their is NO internal exchanger in the Auxiliary coolant Radiator. I think the dual radiator was promoted by the guy that headed the New design and left to go to Nissan ,back in 2015 Ram Drop the dual radiators.

"The Aisin running temps are higher than the 68RFE"

My 11 68RFE ran cooler than others I am guessing because I had a double deep pan. But my 15 AISIN for sure runs cooler.

If you go on Rock auto and look up the Main radiator on my 2013 and the single unit on the new 2015-18 trucks while they show two different part numbers the size and number of rows of tubes are the same. The Aux radiator is only a single row of tubes. Unless you are towing maxed out in death valley I do not see a need for the aux radiator and apparently neither does Ram or every truck being built today would still have it installed. I think once I get this cast off my foot and some more spring like weather I'll be doing the coolant system flush and loosing that aux radiator. Unless someone can give me a really good reason to leave it in place. I don't ant the headache of those stupid plastic "Y" pipes failing nor do I want to spend another $160 or more on a "Patch" even though those aftermarket "Y" pipes do look cool..... I want simple and reliable.

I've only had a radiator hose fail me once so far in my life. I suspect that was vandalism but that's a long story.

I did change to the aluminum wye as a precaution. I figured the wye at almost 5 year's only had another year or 2 on it at It's current failure rate. I usually change hoses/belts if I suspect any weakness or if old. Figured I'd knock out the eye before getting the water pump replaced.

Getting rid of the second radiator is a whole lot more work than changing the wye. Yeah, the second radiator is not needed. But I bet you are voiding your 100 k warranty (if it hasn't timed/miled out?) Replacung the wye should have less effect on warranty. The 2013's are abour to all hit 5 years in the coming months, but warranty would be something to consider for those with extended warranty or 2014's.

I'm sure someone will find a way to get rid of all hoses and belts?

I have had the "Y"pipe fail just it was on a Sat morning about 15 min before the closest RAM dealer was about to close. I was almost 25 min away jumped in my brother in law's car and raced there. The Counter Man was nice enough to take payment over the phone and leave the Hose by the Door for me. Had He not I'd have been stuck for the weekend.
I don't know about the rest of us on here but I need my truck to run and go when I need it. I bought what I thought based on past Experience with Dodge, RAM and Cummins to be just that a truck that would just work. The extra radiator sounded like a great idea how ever it has proven to not be. Like that stupid Tv commercial says some people like to bang their heads against the wall or spill hot coffee on them selves. I'm not one If the New Ram's do not use the Aux Radiator and the main unit is the same size as my unit I will be removing it just as soon as the spring thaw comes. I'm not going to buy a patch kit and wait until the stupid thing fails to install it. I really hate getting soaked with hot antifreeze. As for warranty I'm so close to the end of mine it doesn't matter any more.

Pure Diesel Power has two options available. A welded aluminum y pipe or a solid billet y pipe. I chose the solid billet with T clamps. I cut the plastic clamps off and reused the original hoses.View attachment 101985

These links go to Amazon clothes with the word "Diesel" on them, no wye fitting. Pure Diesel Power web site search comes up no match. Is there a part #? Can't find it, nothing on Geno's Garage either.

I chose the solid billet. It’s a little more, but they had three of the welded ones on the counter that were returned due to leaks in the welds.

When you go to their web site, click on 4th gen 13-18 then scroll down to upgraded and replacement parts. The y pipes are on that page.
