The process at my dealer was to get on the replacement list and they did a SPO?....Special Parts Order?...about 3 weeks later I had a new pump. Maybe this will help to push them in the right direction on their needed actions....others may have more details on this inside process.

My dealership claims fca only releasing one water pump a week to them. There are over 50 people ahead of me on the list.

Are you driving the truck in the meantime?

I am. When the recall first came out I took the belt off and spun the bearing by hand. It rolled smoothly and no signs of grease or coolant. I can't believe these pumps just fail out of the blue there has to be some type of warning. With the noise of the engine it would be very difficult to hear a failure in the making hence the physical inspection with belt off.

Just dropped my 2014 RAM 2500 CC off today at dealer for the recall on the pump. Just bought truck with only 28k on the clock and don't seem to have any issues, but recall had not been performed yet-I knew this.

Called service manager last night before I arrived and said they had a pump available and would set it aside. First time I've used this dealer, so fingers crossed.

I got my water pump recall notice today. Said as soon as they gather about a half a mill of them they will let me know. Notice said Diesel water pump. Maybe it pumps the water out of your fuel. Who knows :--)
can we just buy a water pump and have the dealer put it in?

Well, easier than I thought. Dealer had it done in 6 hours and back to me. Just wish they hadn't left the drained radiator fluid all under the bottom of the front end, but it's a truck. Hose it off and keep rolling.

Good luck to those who get it fixed.

I just dropped it off, so maybe it was shorter. I just went to work and waited for the call. Dealership here seems swamped all the time, so who knows?!

I wasn't able to get my pump replaced while I was down south. Drove it home again, almost another 2000 miles, worked fine.

I have 37.500 miles on the truck so far. Now I can take it to my local dealer for the fix.

Had the water pump replaced on my right hand drive 2016 Laramie this week. Dealer had just got his first lot of replacement pumps in, only 10 available. Talking to the mechanic, they were being paid for one hour for the change. Only took slightly longer.

My only recommendation is to prevent the experience some of us are having by ensuring you look under the hood at the dealership to view the level of coolant in the jug BEFORE you drive out of the service area. If it is low or there is nothing there (as in my case), tell them to grab a jug of 50/50 and a refractometer to get the job done properly. That stuff isn't cheap and they need to pony up if they lost some during the water pump replacement process.

I had the recall work performed a couple of weeks ago. Was in the shop for about two hours. No leaks afterward, and the coolant level was correct initially, and once driven for 21 miles.
Must have had a tech who cares about doing a good job.

Got my water pump and transmission interlock recalls done this week. Dealer gave me a loaner and it was done 3 hrs later. Great service, but sure enough next morning had the low coolant warning come on.....Just frustrating if you live 30 miles from dealer....

I contacted the dealer that sold my truck, about the pumps. They said they would put me on the list in parts so when one comes in they will call. along with the transy recall T-79 they aren't doing as a separate one he told me how to see if my truck has that problem. It is how the dealers test for it. I will post a separate post about it

Check your level on level ground COLD. They did the proper procedure and mine was about 5/8 gallon low. They did send me away with a shy gallon per my request.
