Funny thing is, I have never had a dog afraid of water, as in lake or river, but mini-aussie is a wuss. He will get in the tub on his own for a bath but will not go in the water at the lake.. My Cairyn terrier, I had years ago, didn't know how to swim but would still jump in......on a trip to Heber Springs Ark., he jumped off dock and sank, walked along bottom to land like it was no big deal. Bubbles out the nose the whole time.o_O(Only about 10' to shore).

This is my second GSD in a row. The last one lived to 14. This one (Jagger) will be 5 here at the end of April.

Jagger loves the water and mud as long as it is outside and on his own terms. If it is raining, he absolutely refuses to come back in when you let him out. He just loves running around and playing in the mud.

Bathing him is a completely different story. It takes at least 2 people to get him done. And, we end up more soaked than he does. A complete baby when it comes to getting clean.

A long haired Shepherd, now he has some hair. :D

He came from Stoltz Shepherds out of Pittsburgh and I had him trained at a company called Superior K-9's. They took him at 14 weeks old and trained him in house. I started going back to work with him on the 3rd week of his training and kept that up 3 times a week until they finished with him. After he came home with me, the trainer came to the house to work with us several times a week until he was a year old. He still comes back to the house as needed to brush up on some things as part of our contract.

Does Sheba shed bad ?. Roxy is a literal hair machine. I could swear I vacuum up 10 Shepherds when I vacuum. She is our 5th Shepherd and I do not know that the other 4 shed this bad.

We’re on our 2nd Shiloh Shepherd after having German shepherds all our married lives. They’re generally larger with a milder temperament than a typical German Shepherd. Our first was a plush coat. Think long haired. He blew his coat twice a year. It lasted about a week at a time. Other than that he shed less than a smooth coated dog.

Friends,
I'm in my 6th week of recovery and Monday 3 Jun I get xrays to see if bone graft is working. Had a surprise over a week ago. The friend who got us the rescue blonde Lab mix 9 years ago, called if we wanted free AKC Lab. We couldn't resist. Nothing like a puppy to cheer every one up. Our 10.5 year old Lab-Shepard is getting along great.

This is Cleo short for Cleopatra. She's a sweetie.

Good luck with your appointment Ron, hope all is well.

Dogs make for some great therapy. I can come home after a long hard day and take one look at the excitement in Bo's face when I walk through the door and it's all good. I've had labs nearly all my life, they truly are a special breed. Enjoy her!

Had to throw this in. Can't get a cup of coffee down without a request for a belly scratchin'.

Thanks. What a sweet boy you have. Having Sheba and now Cleo has definitely helped me make it through this grueling recovery from surgery. Sheba knows when I'm recovering from surgery or sick and she is very gentle lying next to me. They are our four-legged kids!

Cheers, Ron

Friends,
Got a good report on 3 Jun, but the xray folks hurt the heck out of my ankle taking xrays. Although still 6 more weeks no weight on it, the xrays were ordered with weight on it. Still hurts 5 days later. They took off the hard cast and gave me an air cast. Now I can wash it and put lotion on it. As many of you have experienced, long recoveries from surgery is tough. In the meantime, to do list is growing. Had one of my 24inch thermostat controlled exhaust fans die yesterday. Its about 18ft above the floor. Friends come over and cut the big yard and any other jobs needing being done.

Posting and participating here on the TDR has helped pass the time.

Thanks and see y'all in the forums.

Cheers, Ron

Ron,

Just a hey from SC and keep getting better. Or if you're up for a road trip and helping with today's project, R&R the alternator wait for it, on a 2000 VW Beetle 1.9L TDI and its just to fix the clutch pulley on it. It makes noise. I've described the R&R procedure as a gerbil giving birth to an elephant. Ain't no room and a tight fit.

You could watch, curse when I clue you, hand wrenches and tell me what I'm doing wrong.

BTW, I used my tester on a couple rigs Memorial wknd, still gathering data but it works and got lots of stares from the test rig owners and one IIRC 2005 Ford 6.0L showed 0 VDC, later found out its controller knows that when the truck ain't moving, no need for trailer brakes.

Gary

Those alternators are fun Gary. I had to rebuild my 01 a few years back due to a bad inboard bearing. Good times aplenty under the hood of a Beetle TDI!

Gary, I'd love to be your assistant... I'm particularly good at handing over the beer.

On the brake controller, it's not surprising to see zero and low voltages when not moving or moving slow. I think there would be a benefit to actually have the manual lever override the special programming, and deliver full range of voltage. On mine though, I'm happy with the functionality of it. Be interesting to hear from somebody with a 2019 Max Tow rig to see if it mirrors what I recorded on my 2019 1500.

Good info. I'm looking forward to seeing your results, especially across manufacturers.

Thanks for the well wishing and Cheers,

Ron

Yeah it's buried under the injection pump, ain't removing that, buried under PS pump, see injection pump comment. Drained coolant, removed entire dual cooling fan module, removed bottom rad hose, AC compressor is next you gotta let it hang down suspended oh yeah battery is already disconnected but I might have stumbled on the "secret sauce" the bottom dog bone mount.

The issue is pulling the ALT out that is 6" wide or so thru a 4" slot against that impossible to R&R radiator.

I removed the dog bone put a ratchet strap on engine and politely pulled engine back a bit.

Holy alternator exposure Bat Man! I can actually see the darn thing, a little bit.

OK b-fast break over, hey Ron, too early for a brew?

And the #$(^@^*()$# thing is I just replaced this one last AUGUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello local retailer now let me show you something. They do have one in stock BTW.

I am glad you are doing better. I new PT is difficult but it is necessary to complete and work hard at the PT so, you can do everything that you want.
