What rims will fit on my 03 2500?

I'm in need of new tires this fall and I'm just seeing what's out there. I'm thinking about some Toya Tire Open Country A/T II. I've run so many kinds of tires on this truck since I bought it - some I've liked and most I haven't. I've been running 315-70-17 all terrain or mud tires on Hummer H2 rims since the truck was a few years old, but the rims are really starting to show a lot of wear.

Before I buy tires, what rims have you guys liked? I don't want to spend a lot on my 312,000 mile truck, so will probably be looking on Facebook or Craigslist. Will the newer 20" rims from a newer Ram truck fit? I don't want ghetto wheels, so I wouldn't go bigger than that. I like something simple that doesn't load up with mud that is hard to wash out.

As far as tires, nowadays my truck mostly stays on the road, but has to handle heavy snow on unplowed dirt roads and trips back through our farm fields. I no longer tend gas wells so it's not into serious mud on a daily basis.

20" tires are a premium which perplexes me. Less rubber=more money?
The stock 18" Mopar wheels can be had pretty reasonably and the Toyo AT3's are supposed to be much better in bad weather than the AT2's.

Yes the Gen4 rims fit a Gen3, but, they have ET57 instead of ET43 like we have as stockers.
Means the wheel will sit around half an inch closer to the center of the vehicle, more inward.
And if you run free wheel hubs, they dont fit at all.

Currently I'm running the H2 rims which, I believe, are wider (further out from the center of the truck) than the stock 3rd gen Dodge wheels, so 4th gen wheels would be even worse than the stock 3rd's? I have fender flairs and don't mind the H2 rims sticking out a bit.

I’m always looking for another set of stock 3 gen wheels. A set of power wagon wheels would be awesome, and any of these are getting scarce on craigs and marketplace. It’ll be by chance that you find them. What I do know is that you can get reproduced and reconditioned wheels on Rock Auto and Summit Racing. I actually have a cart made up for a package of a Dorman wheel set and a set of General grabber hiway tread. Summit will mount and balance for you- shipping is only a oversized charge. Plan is to have a summer/ winter set of wheels (I have AT/KO’s on year round). I just never have the scratch to pull the trigger.

Set of 4 2005 steel OE wheels with the plated "skins" in service about two years, removed and stored inside. Never saw road salt. Center caps too. Came off of my 2005 I installed alloys from a 2007 take offs. They are in SC. Stock tires still on them from 2005, LT265/70R17E.

Those are what my truck came with from the factory. Still have them with the original BFG Rugged Trails still on them. Those rims hold up remarkedly well even in the salt. Better than most aluminum wheels. I may end up using them, but they are a little narrower than I prefer. One thing I hate about them is the way they are made with the groove under the chrome that can get full of mud and is very hard to clean out, especially if it freezes in there. Used to happen to me on a daily basis when working in the woods in oil and gas.

I know of a guy who peeled the chrome skin off and powdercoated them. They are heavy compared to the alloys.

I'd like to find a set of the chromed H2 rims. Anyone have any?

From a search on Facebook Marketplace for H2 rims, it looks like most of the chrome ones have had pealing issues. I am thinking of just having some of the non-chrome H2 rims I already have sandblasted and powder coated. Afterall, they already have the centers cut out to fit the CTC rear axle.

I just, bought 6 months ago, a 2003 1 ton SRW with 9x20 Dick Cepek wheels and 275x60x20 BFG at's. The truck has slight flares and is stock heightI get compliments constantly about how good it looks and the tires are great. If you want a little softer, my daughter just bought 2 Falkens for their Tacoma

I think I'm gonna get a set of these Toyo AT3 in LT285-75-17. I'm trying to decide to put them on my original chrome 7.5" rims or on the Hummer H2 rims. They would probably look better on the wider H2 rims, but the rims are old and pretty beat looking,, whereas my chrome rims are almost like new. Will these tires clear the fenders and suspension ok on the chrome rims with stock suspension? I've been running 315-70-17 on the H2 rims with no problem.

I would look for an after market 18" rim with the correct offset. Choice of tires is much better along with load ratings.

NO, I am staying with what I have. Lots of choices in 17" and they are usually less money.
