Hi Guys,
I'm ready to move from my 3rd gen to a fourth. I have been looking at low mile used tradesman with Aisin trans. I found a 2019 close by with 11k on the clock . But.... it dropped an injector dealer has 6 new ordered for it and sales manager willing to make killer deal on it. Can I have some input from the peanut gallery. I'm not going to tell you rear end gears as that will be a fight ;). Thanks in advance

Dropped an injector at 11K miles sounds fishy. More likely the CP4 self destructed and took out the injectors. I would talk with service a bit and find out what the real issue was and what was done to fix it. There is supposedly a TSB that replaces the CP4 with a CP3 which would be a good thing IMO.

If it’s a SRW there is nothing to fight about as there is only one option.

This doesn't exist and has been proven. There is no TSB replacing the CP4 with a CP3. There is a newer version of the CP4.2, but nobody has proven why it's better. FCA basically said it was changed to reduce noise (?) I wouldn't touch a 2019 with a ten foot pole with injector issues.. and I own a 2019.

Nope, not a chance. It is jinxed if it dropped an injector now, no end of troubles posible. New motor or nothing, if you really like the truck.

The only fix for a potential CP-4 meltdown will be a CP-3 retrofit which is available. Your dime though.

So, if you're still thinking about it, negotiate your BEST deal, then insist on the LONGEST most comprehensive Max Care Warranty offered AT NO COST. I'd do it if they got the deal right.;)

Curious to hear what you do... PM (private conversation) if you do it and don't want to hear guff from the gallery.:eek::p:D

Cheers, Ron

You and many, many other 19 and 20 owners. Only way I'd consider this truck is that extended warranty Wiredawg mentioned. Even then,... The issue currently is that there is a months long backlog on parts. The warranty does one little good if your truck is laid up 12 weeks waiting parts.

Finally, the replaced CP4 pump certainly does not guarantee that's the fix that will hold. Who knows, another 10,000 miles it can go out again. My Son in Law works for a surveying company and they have had 3 2020 3500's with catastrophic fuel pump failures within the past 6 weeks. All the trucks had less than 9000 miles on them.

i hope ram gets a handle on this pump thing....seems to me to be a big strike against owning a new diesel... i have a buddy who works at a dealer. last week a chevy came in with a bad injection pump. no idea on the year. the bill, not finished yet, was over 10 grand. new fuel system, inc. injectors etc. these prices are insane. cheers comrades! :)

To be quite honest with you, I would have NOT traded my 16 3500 Cummins w/AISIN if I was aware of the CP4 pump.(My bad, but thought at this stage, Chrysler would have been thinking of sacrificing longevity or quality ) I could have made the 16 work with the new RV...Just waiting for this CP4 to leave me stranded on the side of the road...While my payments keep coming in..

I've decided to bail on this 19' . Looking at low mile 18's . Thanks for everyone's help.
One question I do have is when truck is in for service are those records for only that specific dealer or if you run the vin from another dealer will all the service records will show up?
