I've decided to bail on this 19' . Looking at low mile 18's . Thanks for everyone's help.
One question I do have is when truck is in for service are those records for only that specific dealer or if you run the vin from another dealer will all the service records will show up?

Its in the "system" and every dealer and FCA can see it. Just like a speeding ticket.:p

Cheers, Ron

Apparently Bosch didn't test their product for at least 100K under load and varying rpm's with US diesel.
Ram should have insisted on the test results although Bosch could have falsified the results I suppose?
Catch this stuff early and gain customer trust.

We had three RAM/Cummins trucks and twin 4BT150's in the boat. So three rotatory pumps, one VP-44(that I had to replace) and one CP3. I am a never CP4er.

Are you sure someone didn’t sneak in and swap your CP3 for a CP4?

If I were you, I would stand guard over your truck. Plus side is you’ll be right there if it decides to spontaneously combust.

You sure you are ok? A farmer is a man out standing in his field. Better come in before it is to late.

I’ll have to say that I disagree immensely with the above statement.

Cummins uses a company called Real World Testing

http://www.realworldtest.com/pc/index.html

From what I understand.....they run a route from around the Columbus, IN area down I-65 south to Louisville, KY then I-64 East to Lexington, KY and I-75. From there.....I think they run 75 south to Chattanooga, TN then pickup I-24 west to Nashville, TN....then I-65 north back to Columbus, IN.

Having ran this corridor lots....I see these trucks lots. When I say trucks.....minimally up to five trucks. How do I know this? I know this as Cummins purchased 5 new GatorMade gooseneck trailers about 1.5 years ago. One of those trailers is hooked to a test truck in the below picture I snapped October 8th, 2020 near the 64 / 75 northern split in Lexington, KY. Hard to see from the glare of the dash on the windshield, but that trailer is loaded with concrete ballast. Others have been set up simply with a huge piece of plexiglass solely designed for wind resistance.

I can understand some of you 2019+ owners having concerns, but there sure seems to be a huge amount of opine being passed off as fact. There’s also a huge amount of unrest being stirred up with a lot of opine, too.....

When I went to the Cummins Mid Engine Plant in Indiana in 2002 as part of a TDR event, Cummins briefed us they and Ram, Dodge back then, ran several trucks 24/7 testing the trucks at GCWR, and believe that's been the case from then to now. Not to say there isn't problems, but to imply its planned or negligence may be a little too far. I'm sure it'll all get worked out, as it has in the past.

Dodge, Ram, and my dealer have always done right by me, and so am I by them.

With this supposed extensive testing, one would of thought the CP4 issues would of been caught. Obviously Real World Testing should of run that test loop a few more times.

Or...the ones that fail are indeed running poor fuel or poor maintenance schedule or sometimes, you are just unlucky.

Knock on wood, but my '01 VP has 351k on the oem. Am I doing something right or just the luck of the draw?

The interweb is full of "ya gotta use additive" on your VE pump, now, with low sulfur fuel. 331k on my oem '91, never use additives on any of my rigs.

Now, with all that said, the CP4 is kinda scary because it is so expensive.

Supposed? You’re hilarious......yes, I made up a faux Real World Testing website link, and I photoshopped the truck I posted in my picture! Busted!!!! Busted.......I am!

Maybe they have been. Maybe there’s not been enough failures within their sample size to show up yet. Perhaps there have been some issues, and perhaps Cummins / Bosch are working on a solution, and.....guess what....they’re currently in another research / testing phase?

Tell me.......when was the last time you saw a thread appear on TDR from a member proclaiming how great his truck was, and how many additional members chimed in of their problem free trucks?

ANY forum can essentially be a venue for folks to gripe, complain, or whine, oftentimes with their first post or first thread. IMO......this more than elevates somewhat skewed results as to the ACTUAL numbers of the initial complaints.

Not saying the current CP4 issue isn’t real.....just saying that forums can certainly skew results, then others wiggggggggg out, then it’s like the CA wildfires soon.

OR they followed the Ford/CP4.2 saga on other forums like RV.net or their RV brand forum. I was harder to follow GM saga and they quietly fixed they, with many not really kow much about what was repaired on their vehicle.

Remember also Bosch would not pay Eldelbrock to use their parented way of keeping the roller follower from turning in the bore.
