I ordered the 3500 HO Aisen Longhorn for First Husband. VIN is assigned. Anyone have any idea how long it would take for them to finish the truck and deliver to dealer? Does any of you have any recent experience with this?

Here is my personal experience
On 8/17 I ordered my truck (3500, srw, diesel, auto, cc, long bed, 4x4 longhorn trim) I was told at that time by the sales manager expect 16-18 weeks, my salesperson said she has been seeing 14-16 weeks and he was just being cautious. She also told me I should see my vin in a week or two.

On 9/9 I received an email stating they got my vin and shipping eta was 9/20. At that point I was also told once it got on a rail car it would take about 2 weeks to get to the dealer
On 9/20 I got an email stating it had moved to storage to await a rail car
On 9/23 I got an email stating shipping eta was 10/6

I was able to get my build sheet from Ram (not your order build sheet when you place your order at the dealer) on 9/22 so I think it has been built but not positive on that but I think that is generated once it is finished being built. I guess I will believe the eta's when I see my truck. I went to RAM Chat gave them my vin and they told me it was awaiting a rail car. I have not been able to get the build codes (they list where they are in the process) no one seems to want to give them out. And while I have been able to get my build sheet I have not been able to get the Monroney sticker yet, it still comes up Sorry, a Window Sticker is unavailable for this VIN so that tells me the truck has not yet been released from Ram but I also do not know exactly where in the process that happens once it is on the rail car?

Last week I ran across an article stating they were going to close the Saltillo plant (where the 3500's are made)
https://www.detroitnews.com/story/b...grand-cherokee-and-dodge-vehicles/5813699001/
I have not been able to find anything else out about that closure like length of time as the article did not state it. Does this affect me unsure, does it affect your order, don't know but I would assume it would affect every truck that has been ordered but not built yet. If it is like mine and been built(hopefully) does it affect the shipping portion? again no idea.

Here is a list of build codes if you can get the code from Ram or your dealer (which came from a shameless cut and paste from another website called ramforum.com)

Different brand ,but my son ordered a new 2022 Superduty in April , supposedly will be delivered in early October . Although he had to delete the adaptive steering to get the ball rolling, they are not building that truck right now if ordered with adaptive steering.

BarryG, thank you for sharing your experience. My dealer told me my order had D status, meaning a VIN was assigned. So, that is encouraging, since I just placed the order last week.

My dealer is saying 12 to 16 weeks. I’m quite sure one’s proximity to Saltillo will also influence arrival times to various dealerships.

Well my 10/6 ship date has come and gone with no movement or status change. On Friday I did get an update from the dealer stating 10/22 as the new ship date. Hopefully but we shall see

So to ship it out within 8 weeks of your order date is in line with what I would expect. It makes it difficult to calibrate your excitement flying so blind with what to expect, no?

When I ordered I was given two eta's 12-14 weeks by the sales person and 16-18 weeks by the sales manager. When I was first notified that it would ship on 9/20 I thought wow they have sped that up significantly but really didn't expect that to happen, though the "new truck coming in excitement" did move the meter a bit. Then when the eta went to 10/6 my "new truck coming in excitement" went from I really doubt it to cautiously optimistic and again the excitement meter did move up some only to be dashed on 10/8 with yet another new shipping eta of 10/22. I am again cautiously optimistic maybe less so than the previous time (only because at some point it has to ship right? and a couple more weeks will have gone by) and the new truck arrival excitement meter has clicked up again a bit more. I told myself from the beginning it would be sometime mid November to mid December before I would see it but when you see the ship date eta it is certainly easy to get wound up a bit. Since 9/20 I have been told it is in JS status the stage just prior to release by the factory. Is it really ready to ship or is it sitting there in a giant lot still awaiting a chip or something before it can be released, no idea. Still patiently waiting (well maybe the patience part is starting to wear down a bit).

I ordered a 2022 Laramie dually diesel on 7/27. The VIN was assigned three days later, the VIN is no indication of the build/delivery process. The dealership owner told me to expect 12 weeks. So it's been 11 weeks, and nothing has changed since I ordered the truck. Dealer now has no idea when to expect it, even said it could be next year.

As the last item in the link says, it is now 482 pages long and growing like a weed.

My BIL just ordered one and was told around 100 days, which is shorter than any other dealership has been stating. Time will tell.

Options are changing rapidly due to chip shortages. As an example early 22 Laramies could get the surround view camera, now it’s not an option.

On a side note I have to ask. What’s with the “first husband” thing? To me calling him first implies there are more than one, which brings up even more questions :D

Could be just a factual statement that he is the first person she has married.

similar to stating your favorite Son but you only have one.

Or....perhaps he has the potential to be given the boot on down the road, and she moves on to “second husband”, “third husband”, “fourth husband”, “fifth husband”, “sixth husband”, “seventh husband”.....etc.

But typically that’s not said every time you say something.

At least he’ll leave in a nice ride
