@GroundSquirrel started a thread a few days ago asking if anyone knew where @Bob4x4 has been. His last activity was in October. He started this thread so I was hoping one of you knew what’s up or have the ability to contact him.

EDIT: While I was posting this, @AEdelheit posted in GS’s thread.

My vin came up on the recall and no parts available say’s my dealership and others. So what happens when it blows up on my drive home 32000 miles how can it be fixed with no parts? Or do they replace with new?.

If it blows up, it gets parked in the dealers service lot along with the rest awaiting parts.

And you get a Lyft/Uber ride home from the dealership. Most dealers around here do not even have a shuttle anymore.

NO. Loaner.
NO. Rental.

Your name goes on a waiting list for Rental/Loaner.
Go ahead call U-Haul or even Lowes. They. Got. Nothing.

Further employees at my preferred local dealership are having to take sick days off because they are sick.

Oh, you were using this as intended and towing something ... This is where it gets interesting.

4% failure rate. How can we make that sound more scary?

I really feel bad for those who have had to experience the CP4 Glitter Bomb. They served as a warning long before the 6.7 Cummins rolled the dice with well known CP4 bad odds. I suggest they don't think this is funny or a joking matter. Re-read what I wrote above and CALL a Phoenix Area RAM Dealership, GM Dealership, and Enterprise Rent a Car and confirm what I wrote about the "World of Hurt" one would be in with a vehicle breakdown today. You can't even be easy on the dealer when you call as you will even need an appointment for a simple Oil Change.

The recall, even if parts were available now, would be a hard choice of when to be without a vehicle while the recall is done.

Power doesn't get restored and ambulances don't arrive when engines break down.

The 2019's are at the most just under 3 years old (Late release in 2019). Average is 10-15K per year driven so say 45K miles. Even so the CP4 failure numbers are still going up as they continue to fail.

They are recalling 100% of them. Even the ones that were already replaced from failure. Does that make it over 100% of the CP4's being replaced?

I’ve read on other venues that Stellantis had been reimbursing some owners that have replaced their CP4’s with aftermarket conversion pumps.
That may be worth investigating.
One can only wonder how long it will take Ram to get the affected pumps replaced; years? Not just the parts availability snafu, but the time and manpower(how many diesel tech’s does a dealer have - damned few). This seems to me to be a very time consuming/labor intensive process.

Id suspect that once the aftermarket pump goes on the warranty goes out the window... I could see them denying almost anything due to a "modified" engine, not worth the risk IMHO.

If I used my truck to put food on the table and the factory fix isn’t even lightly penciled on Rams calendar, I’d be more concerned with a busted truck then a potential warranty claim.

Yeah... everything is case by case,.

My first call would be to the insurance company after the dealer denied repair schedule, and then looking for a lease truck before I modified the engine on my own accord. To be clear I was talking about a truck that was (is) like mine.. 20k on the clock, CP4, not broken. Once its a paperweight then options would be investigated as above. I still probably would not jump to my own repair out the gate,. Especially without some written and notarized acknowledgment by Stelantis... too much risk on a 70$k truck with all the possible things to go south.

Until such time where "the event" would more than likely dramatically increase my useable vocabulary and cause my blood pressure to pop all safety valves, I refuse to damage my inner knees, gnaw my fingernails beyond nubs, or just plain perspire profusely in pre-panic demolition premonition. I will enjoy every useable moment driving with the potential ticking CP4 glitter time bomb, thanking the Good Lord for yet another grand day winning a lottery in life, and use my truck for what it was meant for, enjoying and having fun while it lasts. I do have one small advantage by having the later CP4 with the singular "Meteor Crater" sized machined dot on the housing indicating something positive...maybe...kinda-sorta...I hope...pretty please;)
Now that I have said that...:eek::confused::oops:...No jinx - No jinx - No jinx!!!

Sorry, open and blatant bragging invites jinx! Don't shoot the messenger...

Guys that have replaced the CP4.2 with a conversion kit from II or S&S have been reimbursed through FCA and have submitted proof to the skeptics proving so.

You will get the new setup. They are available in limited quantities until the shelves are full enough for the recall to start. Others have gone through this recently.

I have a 2020 ram mega cab dually and I just got mine recall notice from FCA regarding the high pressure furl pump (CP4). I may call my dealer and see if and when I can get mine replaced.
Of course, I've got less than 4000 miles on it.

My friends brother inlaw and his son both bought 20's , both less than 10k on the clock and both failed on the freeway within weeks of one another. They said the service adviser is replacing with the same pump on till they get their supply of the updated units. pretty sad
