I have a 03, 2500. two problems
1. I have a clicking noise coming from the steering column, when turning . I’ve pulled the steering wheel, clock spring, the turn signal switch. I sounds like the noise is in the aluminum housing that the column goes through. It sounds like a spring or stiff wire clicking. I have no idea how to get to it, or fix it, but it’s driving me crazy to drive it. Need help to figure it out.
2. While driving there’s a light in the dash that keeps blinking “ Lamp Out”. & the bell chimes. I’ve looked a every light on the truck, & everything works! I don’t understand what or why it’s doing it! I’d unplug the chime if I could find it!

My 04 is doing the same with the lamp out thing
Changed my clocksping years ago when I was getting an airbag light and the radio controls stopped working.

Most of the time, if all bulb includes CHMSL are good, it's one of the boards in the taillights. They raise the resistance of the circuit(s) over the threshold and the Light-out comes on.

No idea about the clicking of the steering column.

What is CHMSL ?

After changing tail light boards and bulbs, still got the "dings". A few days later, a headlight went out. Replaced headlight bulbs and no more dings. Duh!

The clicking is likely the intermediate shaft between the firewall and steering box, you can pull it out of the truck, dissemble, grease then reassemble fairly easily but a pretty common issue.

On my 04.5 when it kept having the lamp out ding it was the passenger side headlight harness connector, replaced the connector and no more issue.

Same with my 2005. The center pin tin the connector was pushed out slightly and making intermittent contact.
