Torque Test on 2022 2500 Aluminum Driveshaft

That is about the most I've ever seen on my DPF gauge, and its only been a couple of times. Interested to see how this all pans out. Is the Y43 only for 21' and newer? I don't show it for my 20' Here is what my gauge looked like after about 50mile of running around town empty the other day.

Y43 only for very late 21’s and 22’s. The rest of the 19+ trucks came equipped with the PM sensor from the factory.

Yeah I was failry disappointed to see the gauge uptick with a trailer and car on the back with no idle time at all.

At the same time it's doing it's thing so at this point need to just keep up on the software fixes and the basic recalls and maintenance.

It's a great truck overall. Zero complaints and still would not worry about taking this to CA and back.

I've learned a bunch from these past couple threads, like exactly how and when to check the oil as basic as that sounds. No different then learning to check ATF in a early 2nd Gen.

Took a trip out to MI, to drop off a very broken junk Subaru.

Probably should have changed my oil and filters pre trip but decided against that. Turned 15k 3/4 of the way out.

I learned a valuable lesson I never paid attention too or missed.

POST TRIP INSPECTION! Like when you are home home.

Obviously we all have some routine for Pre Trip and During Trip, my Post trip usually is just leave the trailer hooked up for a few days and drive another rig because it's dark and cold, or hot and buggy, you pick the excuse.

Well I usually can hook up the night before all my trips and set the air pressures do some inspections, get the tools in the truck for the trailer wheels and the straps..... light check and the sort.

Maybe it's been 3 weeks since I had the trailer out, this blue car has been on it the whole time.

PreTrip the night before the LR trailer tire was at 35 PSI, the rest 64, so it was already getting dark, I figure top it off to a known value and the check it in the AM, already knowing it's not good.

Came out was 54 from 70, the rest were 68. (Cold at night here now)

So off it comes which is a great place, have large Jack's and air for days to do this here.

Was a small piece of metal, it's too close to the edge will need a new tire. I plugged it and it's now the spare to get off the highway for now. Will order a new one up.

One thing to note and have on hand, which I don't are spare trailer lug nuts.

I think they missed a great opportunity at the trailer MFG, to mount the spare with bolts and lug nuts the same size as the wheels.

At least you would have 2 right there, for this example the tire is trailer frame mounted up front.

Truck is running good. 12.7 MPH out. The DPF pulled down to zero from 40% in 29.8 miles of driving, there is a great hill in PA on 80 as you get past say Stroudsburg up to 380, you could watch the DPF lower on that climb. Does not take much to keep it clean, but it also ticks up in the 6.8 miles off the highway. So it's not 100% at all. My rig need a lot of load and heat to stay at zero.

Probably a sign I have way too much truck, which I have known since before I got it.

Needs a bath, and service when I get back.

So when I arrived to MI, I checked my tires and all trailer tires were perfect except the LF was 0.5 PSI lower, pretty good for me.

Back to the POST TRIP INSPECTION it will definitely be adjusted as I feel I would have caught the loss of pressure in that tire.

I don't have that extra TPS deal for the trailer, that would also be a nice to have.

I always check the trailer during my trip. Not air pressure but walk around and straps and the sort. Example I stopped 3 times on the way out here, usually feel the hubs and the other basic stuff, noting too crazy.

Figure check the pressures and the sort look for oddness. Which is always done before my trips, but in this case that's way too late not to delay my trip a few hours. Just look to take some lessons away that can improve my exact set up.

@Timd32, When I replace trailer tires in the spring, gonna spring for TPMS valve stems to put in them. The reasoning is that I made a purchase for an Autel MS508 tool. That way I can walk up and read the tire pressures with the tool! Also will be handy for the travel stops along the way to check pressures and temps. Just throwing it out there as an option. Has been a huge help with the truck and DW's vehicle.

I love my Autel tools. A little expensive up front for their good tools, but man are they life savers.

I've grown rather fond of Trailer TPMS. I have the OEM sensors in my 5th wheel and then have a TireMinder i10 and 6 sensors that I float between my various other trailers. I put the TireMinder booster in the rear bumper and powered it off an aux switch. It's nice knowing while you're driving is something is up.

@Timd32, Got bit myself this morning. Went to run errand, 7psi in inner right rear! Pulled it, 2,yes 2 nails within 10 inches and same tread! They were even the same type, 8d ring shank. Glad I've got tire plug kit! Put the new spare on and plugged tire is now the spare. Just the way it goes!

That's a neat idea. I don't put the miles on the rig but would be useful.

I've not really run across then. Seen them in passing, back when TPMS was new I recall the floater service one you could rent to make adjustments back in the early days.

Every stop I make when traveling I IR the hubs and tires, all 12 of them. If something is not right that will tell you in a second.

FYI oil bath is the way to go with disk brakes!!!
Trailer is only 13800 bumper pull, I think Tare is 4500, leaving me about 9k, I thought it was enough rig to put my 2nd Gen up onto. Never pushed it that high, nothing that big to move.

I just put my hand on the hub, it's never even warm to the touch, it pulls nice they are decent Dexter axles, but drum.

At one point the road was so washboard I thought I had a tire out, at times like that would be nice to know the status. When they go down sometimes you don't have miles and miles like this one, probably would make it a few hundred miles before it went too low. Till you push it and it takes its self out of the game.

Sorry to bring this up then, hopefully that's the 3rd Nail and we can all be done for a while.

Yeah I pulled the trigger on the plug kit a while back, it's really nice pretty complete kit. I'm not a super fan but in HS, I worked at a small garage pumping gas and fixing tires, plus mount and dismount, balance. So I did a ton of plugs and patches. Depending on the location I think they are fine.

I have a balancer and tire machine in the garage, not sure I could do my new wheels or really would want too, but I know I can do any steel trailer and old school 18" wheel.

These don't look balanced at all. I don't think any of my trailers have had balanced tired actually.

Thanks for the replies.

On the regen front, would you believe 15 min from the house the darn thing timed out and did a regen after 1100 miles with the trailer! Stupid computers. It went super quick luckily since it was hot and I was still on the highway at least.

Used half tank of DEF according to the picture, but I forget if that's real or the calculated level, either way it was full at the start of my trip.

You mean the hub cap?:p

To be clear I do the hubs and tires on the 5er and MC trailer along with the 6 tires on the DRW and occasionally I hit the trucks front hubs as I pulled the ABS sensors a year ago and pumped AMZ/OIL grease into the hubs and I want to keep an eye on them as many fail at or around 100k+.

Ordered my filters and stuff from Genos eariler this week, should be in soon.

The 68436631AA chassis filter is on Back Order till 4-30-24, so I grabbed one from Amazon, but it's sold from Amazon so should be legit. Was not less expensive in price vs Genos, they published that guide for counterfeit filters this past week, will see what shows up.

I see those Doc's filters around. But not sure if those can be run and if any issues occur what impact to the Max Care would be. So I picked let's roll the dice with the Amazon filter for now and see what it looks like in the box, vs knowingly go off grid with one of those.

Not a major issue seeing I already picked the Mopar one and not going to experiment.

Hope you get the real thing from Amazon. Some of those counterfeits are very well done these days. I also ordered a filter set from Geno's a week or two back, oil/fuel/air. Same backorder problem, but I'm okay with the wait. My 2nd oil change isn't due until October. I don't put anything close to 15K on mine a year, so it gets them annually.

My primary filter is also on backorder but I should be fine until it arrives.

I did some research on this filter and Wix/Napa now has it, WF10579/300579. $37 at Rock Auto, $48 from Fleet Filter, Napa is high.

Amsoil even carries it.

Yeah I'm already at 16k, I'm a slacker unlike alot of folks here. I could have / should have a lot of times. Someone has to push the line here on the over.

Genos called me to let me know, they said "you got a lot of work ahead of you"!

Never good when the parts guy even recognized how much I ordered at one time for my rigs.

Yeah those prices almost and do beat the Doc's, that link is closer in price to the Mopar ones.

Yeah not a price issue here, they are all pretty close on price with shipping and all in.

I can't see how Amazon sells fakes direct to consumer, I can see "sellers" on Amazon selling fakes with out Amazon direct knowledge, but knowingly selling counterfeit stuff is crazy to me.

My fault for procrastinating and not just having some on the shelf. I got the rest of my filters for my next change with this order for everything, so it was 2x on most everything.

@Timd32 don't forget the oil/filter and fuel filters are also a 12 month interval if you don’t hit the miles. Hate to see Ram give you any grief of something should need to be claimed under warranty.

I keep a change for everything, for all my rigs, on the shelf. I order new stuff when I use what’s on the shelf to keep ahead of the backorders.

@NIsaacs be careful with Wix filters on a common rail. They often don’t meet the min spec specified by the mfgr. That filter doesn’t have filtration ratings published, and in my experience researching filters that’s not a good thing. I’ll see what I can dig up on it thou.

I did overlook that one for sure.

Same goes for my EcoD. Same exact statement in the owners manual.

My next oil change is next month and fresh oil, oil filter and fuel filter will be going in as it will be exactly 1 year because I'm under warranty.

I will also be doing my Cummins AMP+ Oil Analysis to get the results in my Horizon portal.

I will never buy filtration media on Amazon/eBay. Only from the local dealers or direct from Genos. Too much fake junk out there now a days. Can't trust it on a $20,000+ engine.

Thanks, I can't seem to find much info. What are the specs on the Mopar? I can't find that either. Same with the Balwin, no micron specs (pf46152)

Since it is the primary it shouldn't be as critical as the secondary, that is a special filter. Odd that Fleetguard still doesn't list it. Wonder who makes it for Mopar?

Is it just me or did the color change on my post?

Hum, just a glitch I guess, now the print is black.
