2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 01 Alloy Wheels

Morning guys, I finally joined the TDR after a year of just reading it. I've got some 01 alloy wheels that I'm gonna put on my truck

and I remember someone had done this before. I've had the drums turned and grinded a little of the front. My Q is, do I have any other areas that need attention/modifying? My truck is rated for 8800#. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Did you have to do anything to the front,,,,,,,, let me know what all you have to do,,,, i've got a set i'd like to put on my 97

I have 2001 alloys on my 1997. I modified the rear drums but my truck did not require any suspension modifications up front. I did have to take some emery cloth to the front hubs. There was just enough rust buildup on the hub/rotor (where the hub comes through the wheel) that the wheel was too tight to press completely on. I am running BFG 295s and get a slight rub on the lower control arm at full lock on a left turn. No rub on the fender well (I have mud flaps and Mopar running boards).

T- BONE, what did you do to the drums to make them work,,,,,, did you have a machine shop turn them down,,,,,, i've got the wheels and tire mounter and ready to go,,,,,,,,,, let me know exactly what i have to do

I got them on and they look good. Thanks for the replies. Here's the rundown, first had the drums turned, on the outside, 1/8".

Second I grinded some of the knuckle, on the front. Third I slipped the wheels on and I'm good to go. Total cost 370. 00,

300/wheels, 40/labor to turn drums, and 30 for Discount Tire to switch tires. Not too bad of an upgrade, for the money. Thanks again for the help.

Hackamore summed it up well. I had a machine shop use their brake lathe to take some material off of the outside lip of the drum. Cost was one hour labor. If you remove a wheel and place the drum inside the wheel, as they would go together when on the truck, it's obvious at that point where the material needs to be removed. I spoke with the machine shop and Sam P prior to having the work done. Both agreed that the material was not structural.
