The AE includes the matching stabilizer shock but not the pitman arm.
So being more money is not so bad after all then, except for those that want a more HD stabilizer have to now buy one with the kit.

Thanks Bob for finding out what was different.

So I have the Carli $600 plus dual steering stabilizer system that seems to be out the door as it's no longer on the Carli website. What's the story there? This is the system that had stabilizer shocks with not enough travel which caused them to rotate all the time when they hit their extension limits. Carli always took good care of me. I received replacement stabilizer shocks since, free of charge, but haven't had the chance to replace them. For me this system has worked well. I was surprised to see it gone but I guess the issues brought about the redesigns.

I also have the Thuren/Carli track bar. I have been having some trouble with it at the bushing end. It seems I can't quite get the bolt tight enough to keep if from making a knocking noise when it shifts back and forth. Is the hole in the bushing that much larger than the factory bolt?

This is with NO offroad driving. It's my grocery getter/commuter :-laf

I'm getting ready to buy tires and do some front end work but I'm not looking to replace the dual setup. I want to try and make it work with the '99 steering setup.

I'm looking to buy a set of Toyo 35" x 17" Open Country MT's now. Also considering the upper ball joints. Who's got the price? After a few emails, Carli doesn't seem to be dealing with the general public anymore. Guess a couple thousand dollar sale is small potatoes in this hot economy?

Does anyone know if this will work on an '01? If so... What are the part numbers? Sorry for the repetition.

Do a search for upgraded steering in the second gen forums. the info is out there I did it to my truck. It involves using parts from a 98. also, it was called t-type steering.

The dual stabilizer unit you refer to is a Defiant product which was distributed by Carli. Defiant and Carli parted ways and do not distribute each other's products anymore. Call Carli directly and Jesse can answer any questions. They were in Baja for the 1000 I believe.

Yup,the Carli guys were down in Baja whoopin it up in the dirt. I did 1200 miles on that Baja trip. I can't even guess the total miles for all the trucks involved but a good test for all the products.

You can't get those bolts too tight, the other thing is to put a lil lube between the insert and the bushing.

Pitman Arm Pics

For those interested what the deal is with the pitman arm I took some pics-

This first one is with the 03-07 pitman arm & new linkage, remember the

axle & center link will also come forward some when compressed:

#ad

The next one is with the 08 pitman arm, notice the added clearance so

when the suspension is compressed fully you have no chance of the center

link contacting the stud that drops through the pitman arm, that would be

pretty hard on the gear box if it happened:

#ad

Thanks everyone for the part numbers, tips and all about this upgrade.

Thanks for the web site info Mr Blankenship!

I just ordered the kit using part number 52122362AE, it pulled right up.

I could not get part number 68939930AA, for the pitman arm to pull. I used their catalog for a 2008 mega cab and searched it by name. I ordered it that way but see no part number. We will see how that goes.

I did not get the stabilizer as I am hoping it is in the kit with the AE.

I ordered the pitman arm lock washer and nut for good measure and the total with shipping was $231. 14.

I will post again when it arrives.

Good luck on getting the correct pitman arm by just specifying 08,the early 08 is the same as the 03.

That is an amazing price if it is accurate. that is less than dealer cost :{

If anyone is interested in the steering kit part number 52122362AE I just purchased one from Mopar Parts for Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep: MoparPartsAmerica for $145 and that included shipping. I thought this was a great deal. I do have one question for you guys. I have a lift kit on my truck with a drop pitman arm. Will this kit work with my drop pitman? I don't think the new pitman arm will work with the lift kit I have. Thanks

The issue with the pitman arm is the angle of the stud leads to impact on the linkage below it on full compression of the suspension. When you get the linkage on that is what to check for. If you don't use your truck hard enough to use all the travel it will be a moot point.

Wow, there is a lot of info here

In the summer when I have some spare $$$$ I need to do some steering upgrades as my steering box is leaking like a Siv and I have 90K miles on the truck. It is a bit sloppy.

I will give the Carli guys a call and hope they can make it all make sense for me when I am ready.

Suspension

Correction Bob with the punishment you put your trucks thru on the highway and off road it has to be Carli's Its the only Suspension that will hold up! It takes a beating, but keeps on ticking!:):):):):)
