Hey guys,

Posted a while back that I was going to sell my '04. 5 since the payment book took up the whole short-box. I delivered it to the buyer last week. Made my month not to have to write out the January loan check!



I then found a 1995 ext. cab 2500 4x4 5-spd in the TDR classifieds with about 96k on the clock. My wife and I drove to PA this weekend and brought it home. My payment dropped from $540/month to $200/month and my insurance is $900 less a year too. The financial gains are not the only good part though. I had a great time driving it home. It was so nice to hear that 12v clattering. The PO had straight-piped it so even though it was rainy I had to roll the windows down to listen to the exhaust for a while.



I have only noticed a couple of little things to fix. Other than that it seems to be ready for some Mods. The PO said that the original owner had a service center install larger injector, he thought from a '98. It also has a BHAF on it with heat shield. Other than that it is stock.



I plan on tabbing the KDP, installing EGT/boost, 4" rip straight pipe exhaust, 3000gsk, and a #4 or 5 plate. I'm sure that won't be the end of it though.



Can I just check the numbers on the injectors to confirm what they are from?? Thanks guys and it is great to part of the 12v team now

Congrats on the 'new' truck! With only 96k on it it really is almost new. Get that KDP taken care of ASAP and have fun with your all mechanical fuel system. I went from a 3rd gen to a 12V too and I love the 12V.

Probably 215 injectors if there from a '98. If you pull one and get the #'s off the body, someone on here will be able to hook you up with some info as to what they are. Amazing how many folks switch from a 3rd gen back to a 2nd gen. Must say something... . Not always because of the payments, either. 12V Baby. I love mine... .

May want to plan on a new clutch with a #4/5 plate. A #10 probably wouldn't bother it to much, since you have a '95.

Get the KDP done ASAP. Also get the timing checked/advanced before you start adding a lot of fuel.

Congrats. I just went from a 3rd gen back to a 12 valver too. Best decision I ever made. The 3rd gens lack so much personailty.

Same here. 3rd back to a 2nd gen. I was stranded by my 99 two times (LP and cam sensor) Therefore got a little gun shy about electronics. Soooo. . dropped back to mechanics and don't regret it so far. Previously had an 05, But really the truck's nice manners/comfort didn't make up for the payments.

Didn't think newer always meant better.

And I like having no payments, (except for all these darn BOMB's).

Chris, congrats on the "new" truck! That is VERY low mileage for a '95. The main thing you'll probably miss from the '04 is having real doors for the back seat passengers. Good thing that your windows also roll UP, since you live near the IP mill (What's that smell? - Smells like money to me. )

:-laf True, true... Amazingly they roll up and down a LOT faster than my '04 which seemed to struggle since brand new.



One thing I love is how the 12v just seems so ALIVE, well until 2200 rpm that is A 3000gsk should fix that huh?



The main thing I need to work on is removing all "extra" wiring from the truck. It had a high-top camper shell on it with lots of lights, so there was wire running here and there for it.



Also, the truck was in salt country its whole life until saturday so there is lots of corrosion under the hood on electrical connections. I need to clean all those up and put on some dielectric grease.



Here's a pic from my camera-phone after I removed the camper and put on the AR wheels with street tires (the VA police probably would have frowned on the studded snow tires :-{} ). They are a little bitty 235 series, so I may go up to a 285/75R16 in the next month or so.

Kudos to you! Overall you will be much happier. I have about the same mileage on my '95 and love it. It is fun to drive. Be sure to consider doing a DTT valve body, torque converter, and TST plate (#6) mod. You'll think you're in motor driving heaven!

Well, I'm glad everything worked out in the end. I could sense your frustration the phone and remember commenting that I've been in your situation before. When these trucks go up for sale, they generate a lot of interest in a short amount of time...
