Congrats on the new 95 Chris. There's alot of 3rd gen converts around these days.

Get the 3K GSK, plate and timing, you'll be happy for while. It will run so much better though.

Yeah,I always figured 6 times 2 equals 12 not 24. but thats just me. I love my truck, good luck with yours. Oo. ASAP on the KDP.

Oh yea the recipe for madness. :D

It's always cool to hear from the guy's that have had the newer trucks and sold them for an older soulful 12 valve. Live and learn. Thanks guy's

I'll ditto the comments here! Sold my '04 for dang near what I paid for it and bought the Green Lizard for $7900 with 115,000 and change on the clock. Found out a couple days ago it has a block heater as well. I think I said on another post that while the 3gen's are REALLY smooth and refined trucks, I absolutely hated the electronic throttle! It made the truck feel like an appliance! In fact, it reminds me of some the newfangled AC current locomotives I run (much more often lately I'm disappointed to say). A very "disconnected" sort of feeling. The 12v is just loaded with all the right sounds and the P-pump is just right there at the touch of your foot! I don't even have an exhaust system on this thing yet and I love it! Oo.

on a 95 pump, I'd do a 4k GSK, #100 plate, 370's and 181 or 191 DV's :)

Sounds like a wicked combo Forrest. I guess I better add a SB clutch to that recipe too :)

I am curious to find out what injectors this truck has in it because it will roll the coal when you jump on the throttle. Not like black out the highway smoke, but a pretty good little cloud. Of course I'm not used to any smoke coming from a '04. 5 so it may not be much than normal 12 stuff.

It'll be interesting to see how the gauges read when I get them in. I think I'll order my gauges and the TST tab kit this week. Then, let the BOMBing begin :D

Well, looks like I am getting ready for my first 12v repair project. The PO had tols me that sometimes when it was real cold out that the starter would click and not turn over. Hmmm... Didn't happen to me at all until yesterday when my wife and I were going the the grocery store. Click, click, click, click, and finally it turned over and started. Then after shopping, it did the same thing. I'll be giving Larry B a call today to get a starter contact kit. To be safe, should I just park the truck until then to avoid the risk of it sticking in the on position and frying the FSS? Thanks.

Watch it ...bubba.....

Vintage?!?!?!?! Watch it Matt... . My 96 is the newest vehicle I own!!! Can be as much fun to drive as a 69 GTX or 57 Belvedere - they are approaching vintage! As for the wife’s 88 Chevy van... . well... . at least it has a TV for the kids.....

Easy, Dan - vintage doesn't necessarily mean 'old'... it could just refer to a period in time. :) Don't forget... I still have a '94 Dodge/Cummins. The '98 12-valve Quad Cab went to its new owner today... :(

I bought the truck while I was living in an apartment with plans of keeping it forever. Not even 3 months later - I realize how easy it is to buy a house. So, 6 months after I bought the QC/12-valve... I own a fixer-upper house - with a garage big enough for both of the trucks.

The payments on a 3-year loan were a bit steep. Steep enough so that I haven't been able to afford too many renovations at the house. So, the truck that I hardly ever drove (and never drove in the winter... ) gets to take a hike. I had that truck for almost 2 years - I'll certainly miss it, but what I'm building for a daily driver should help to ease the pain.

Glad you got rid of that 3rd gen crap. :)

:D I'll be especially glad when the 20th of the month gets here and I don't have to sell a kidney to make my payment :-laf

I'll hopefully have it all titled and legal this weekend. My starter contacts should be here next week so I can kill that gremlin. I think I have enough cash saved to get my gauges and KDP tab kit ordered next week too. That will keep me occupied for a while.

Congrats on the new baby there Stansbury, I know alot of guys give the 24V a hard time but i do love my 2000 of course i have not had any problems other than a Cranshaft pos. sensor go bad and had the transmission valve train upgraded and she has 118000+ on it.

Now lets talk about the 92 12V i picked up back in Nov. and i have been accused of stealing it basically by all that know these trucks, i love the mechanical pump, the whole setup she is sweet and mine had about the same mileage as yours when i picked it up, the VSS has gone bad and well the second owner didn't get it fixed so mileage showing was 50,110 they estimated it had another 46000 on it, needless to say i jumped on it like a piece of meat and haven't looked back Oo. .

I have a fuel shutoff solenoid coming for it and im going to contact larry B about the starter contacts, never hurts to have these little items on hand.

Let us know how that contact upgrade goes, might be useful info for some of us :-laf

It was so nice to hear that 12v clattering

I too evolved back to the 12v world. Candidly, the 04 was a far superior road machine with better steering, better brakes, better cornering with the hydroframe, and the 3. 73s.

BUT... I don't miss making payments, love the 2G body and interior, enjoy working on the 12v, and ... yes, the clatter clatter.  :-laf

When my family got too big for the regular cab 12v, I couldn't part with it so I added the sleeper with the back seat, now I can still pull the 5ver and have the whole family with me. I love my '95. I think that instead of getting a new truck, I want to wait and see if Dodge actually produces that new Challenger!
