I hope that this is the right section to post this question. I am a new member and just purchased my first diesel truck. I've dreamed of owning a 2500 mega cab diesel ever since i put my eyes on it. Please be patient with me and i welcome any and all input regarding this truck.

I cant seem to get a straight answer from the dealer about putting a plow on this amazing truck. I own a fisher 8 1/2' stainless steel v-plow, which i believe weighs around 1000#. The manual I received with my truck talks about snowplowing and even explains how to properly plow! With nothing stating that you cant plow with a mega cab. The reason I'm asking is because I heard that the truck frame is to long for the weight, but i've seen plenty of QC longbeds with plows! Any input would be appreciated!:)

Dodge will void your warranty if you look at them wrong. Can you be your own warranty station? Only you can answer that. Now, that being said, let's get to the fun stuff.

No, the frame is not too long, it is believed that the weight of the giant cab AND the plow will overcome the tensile strength of the frame... .

... . however, if I had a nickle for every Suburban or Expedition I've seen with a snowplow hung on it, I could buy gallon of diesel fuel!

That's a lot of Suburbans!

These dieselheads here don't plow, ask your question here:

Thanks alot throttlejockey, I didn't think anyone was going to reply. I did sign up for plow sight.com but havent got my email yet for my password, its been a week or so and still waiting, I can't wait to start chatting on their. The advise from you is worth a million bucks!!!!! One other question I have is, should I put a leveling kit on it? Seems to be the thing to do according to all of the posts i've read. Talk to ya soon!!!

I would level the truck with some Heavy Duty springs, factory springs on the Mega seem pretty soft.
These web sites have the leveling spring:
Kore Racing
Lorenz Ind.
Carli
Thuren Fab

Thanks for the info. I think I have to maybe consider a 1 ton spring just to be safe. Keep the suggestions coming please, i'm trying to take it all in... ..... being new to diesels and all!!!!!

Congrats on the new truck and welcome to the TDR family. After reading your post I would agree 100% with Black Pearl in that you should look at an aftermarket coil spring. I have 1-ton Mega Cab and can tell you the stock coils are a joke!! They are extremely weak and will bottom-out on the smallest of bumps. I personally went with the Lorenz kit which increased my ride height but was much stiffer for support of that Cummins. Note: The ride quality is ten times better with the aftermarket spring. Note: If you decide to go with Lorenz they have a HD level kit which is a little stiffer than mine to support after-market bumpers / ranch hands. You should probably look at that one. In addition I would also suggest that you replace the stock shocks as mine were finished at 15k miles. I hope this helps... .

Thanks alot southbound, every bit of info is helpful!!!! It's great to hear from people like yourself who own a megacab and can give me tips on improving and upgrading my new ride. I'm trying not to go crazy with aftermarket parts that are going to void my warranty, thats my biggest fear is to spend this much on a truck and then get BS from the dealer.

Any suggestions on air intake systems? Looking for better gas mileage. Not doing awful but could always do better. Also looking for a good set of gauges to track temps.

thanks for the advise

Not sure why that picture came up like that? Trying to put a smaller one next to my name. Also trying to figure out how to make my truck info come up. I filled it out and saved it, can't catch a break!!!!!!!!!!!

JZillman-

As far as after-market parts I wouldnt worry about the warranty issues unless you start running power boxes or changing things such as your injectors or turbo. Suspension upgrades will have no issue to your coverage. As far as intakes I changed the stock pipe on the intake tube to the "eliminator pipe" which helps a little bit on boost... . more changed noticed on turbo whistle. As far as gauges I am running with the Diprocol (spelling). I currently have the fuel pressure on the pillar (SRT10) replacement. I am also using an EGT and boots gauges which are mounted on the column. All of the above parts I ordered through Genos. I hope this helps.....

Drive into your friendly neighborhood Dodge Dealer with a 1000 pound Blizzard 8610 PowerScoop snowplow hung off the front of a Megacab and sing that tune.

They'll look at you like this--->:confused:
