97 4runner trail build and catalytic

Here is a rough back round on why I decided to build this truck. When I was out in Wyoming for school, I bought a 87 Toyota pickup to go in the mountains and do some wheeling. It was stock for the most part, but I really enjoyed it. Fast forward 13 years, I have always wanted to have a project vehicle and everything worked out to build one.
I have a family, so for sure I needed a backseat. I missed going off road, so I needed something capable and reliable. I knew about the Cummins 12v for a long time as well as 1 ton drive train, it just made sense. So here we go.

First stop, try to find a stock, lower miles, and not rotted 12v with a stick.... Not going to be in Wisconsin.

As I made the journey this is how I bought it. Yes it does have a bedliner on it, that is failing.

After the 17 hour trip back home, started to get ready to make my flatbed.

Starting the flatbed. It will consist mainly of 2x2 1/8th wall. I decided for the flatbed for a couple reasons, but the biggest was departure angle and I did not feel like bobbing the bed.

Figuring out my vertical mounts, I set the height based on the fender of the bed. I did this mainly because I did not want any fender wells.

Placing my main frame up there.

Started on the rest of the build once I got the "main" frame done.

Mocking up my exhaust which I will later regret.

That is it for now! I will post more later. My pictures that I took with the phone vertical did not work so that stinks, but I will try my best.

Some more pictures. Which now it gets a little heart breaking. Long story short the truck had to be stripped to bare metal.

Did the whole truck with this.

Now before I put the bed back on I need to address my on board air.

While the bed was off I painted it.

Time for top sheeting, which is .125 aluminum. I will be using etrack on the sides for future ideas. Also did lighting. I know my commentary is very vague so if you guys have certain questions please ask away!

Some more work. Had to accomate for air psi gauge, 3 aux light switches, comp switch, and volt meter/usb ports.

No I did not change to T style. Why.....well I read too much conflicting information and it working. I do mead the 99 HD setup FYI. I went moog. Also the BD track bar was...well only time will tell but it was not enjoyable to put on. As soon as I read, hold the drill level (on a curved frame) I was thinking.....really you guys could not send a fixture to help a little. Installation of the whole thing was cumbersome.

Steering stabilizer. Yes I know DOR is the best..... frame twist yada yada. I was not going to order from them under any circumstance. I read too much to not avoid them like a plague. Also I have a modification to THIS setup to be ok with frame twist.

Thanks all. That is it for a while. My bumper pictures did not work. It is a diy kit.

Nice work! While I purchased my flat bed I did have the rear heavily modified to deal with the departure angle. I had it lifted but still low enough to protect the spare tire. We also turned up the corners at a 45 degree angle from the frame. The only time I drag the rear end is if I leave the receiver hitch in. Otherwise I have had no issues dragging and have been over some pretty nasty stuff. I like the idea of cutting off the corners as that is pretty much wasted space. Do you plan on installing a goose neck hitch?

Thanks man. No goose hitch here. In fact, I am going try to avoid towing anything. To sum it up, I like the idea of having something overkill to do simple tasks. Engine will not get modded for power. Kdp has been done, other than that it is stock.
