Well with 70k on the clock the bearing are getting pretty loud & some pretty good play in the front.

I have read that some of you are pulling them apart & greasing them & re installing. Do you replace the bearings on the inside, or yours are not worn & just adding lube?

If I buy new timkens is there a particular place to install a grease zerk???

ANY IDEA ON A TIMKEN PART#... . are left & right the same part#

Thanks

These Front Wheel bearings on 04. 5 2wd are factory sealed units. My dealer charged $480. 00 each total bill was over $1200

I was not a happy camper... . I'm from the old school where you can repack or replace the bearings yourself. BTW... this is now the 3rd set of front bearings on this truck of mine 122,000 on the clock. I would not be surprized if they were Chinese bearings!!!!

The BCA (Federal Mogul) # is 515089 and they are the same on both sides... . I have several sets on the self if your interested. Either PM me or Email me... if you have an interest...

I wrote too fast... we carry the complete hub assembly, for the 2WD truck, the part number is 515089 and for the 4WD part the number is 515061... . These are BCA numbers, I haven't taken the time to look up the Timken numbers. .

Both of these are sealed units and I ordered in a group for some of the TDR guys and some of our other customers.

Some of the earlier trucks use a left side and right side as the studs/nuts are LH and RH but on the 03-05 trucks they are RH threads...

Did I answer your questions?

Jim

Thanks for the explanation... do you sell a lot of the 2wd hub assemblies ?

Because when my dealer was replacing mine they were on national backorder

so my thinking was that a lot of owners were having the same problem.

Thanks again for the reply Jim

We just started to carry them... we've brought in a good selection of hubs for 4WD as well as a group of the cars... there are some Ford and GM numbers that must cover 8-10 million vehicles... huge numbers... for us, the 2WD truck market is very soft. . we're were we get a good deal of snow and if you want a new 2WD truck you almost need to order it from the dealer. . but our survey showed a need so we have them... .
