Has anyone got the scoop on the 6 speed lubricant? The owner's manual says to use the MOPAR lube only, and the sticker on the PTO cover on the trans says to use TEXACO or the MOPAR lube only. Checking with three dealers, revealed that they did not stock this or didn't know how long it would take to order it. The parts dealers within reasonable distance don't carry the Texaco stuff, and four couldn't find it in the catalogues. I e-mailed REDLINE, and they recommended using a 50-50 mix of their MTL and MT-90 which would give me basically a 75w-85w vicosity with a GL-4 rating which they say is the spec for the new 6 speed. I'm a little leary of "mixing and hoping". What do you guys think? I don't believe the bit about a trans oil never needing to be changed. Thanx, sorry for the long post, I had to get it out...

LarryM, I checked this out as there is no lube wt on the mopar cont. such as 75-90. There is an MS-9224 on it. I called the Amsoil Tech, and they told me it is the same as their Series 2K 5W30 eng. oil. I didn't like the sound of this since my old 5spd. used 75-90 gear lube. DC installed a new 6spd. in mine at 29K. They drained the lube out of the new transmission, and it was light wt. like eng. oil, so I had them put the Amsoil 5W30 in, cause that is what I use in my eng. I have 52K on it now and is OK. I don't want to get anyone riled up again about Amsoil, but that is what I did.

Either TDR issue 26 or 27 (I can't reference this right now) addressed the lubes for both the NV5600 and the NV4500. If I remember correctly, the NV5600 uses 5W30 as did the Getrag 5-speed... . something about development coming full circle.
