6BT power (or lack of thereof )

85 miles per hour plus in a pick up .

We had a phrase for these guys when i was long hauling , i gave it up because of them and price of fuel in 2000

simple young throttel jockys You still have to stop the truck , they dont stop on a dime ,

theres a reason why interstates have multiple lanes

the fastest my 92 been was 85 it dont like that speed either , its just plain nuts , i dont think most of them will run that fast with 354 gears or 411

all I'm saying is where I'm from it's dangerous to drive the speed limit! :-laf

What happens if you do the speed limit in the right-hand lane? They drag out six-guns and start shooting?

Just a question before I drag my 5er thru Houston.

I'm with Forrest... I rarely drive the speed limit. . I'm usually 10 or so over whenever possible and I'm keeping pace.

HTML:
running down the highway at 2700rpm isn't going to hurt a thing

Yes that is true because a truck is not normally using much HP rolling along.

nah, you'll be fine, you'll be getting passed a LOT... quickly. Have fun navigating through Houston, I hate it... I'm a Dallas boy myself.

I guess my point is that speed doesn't "kill" difference in speed does, and running up and down I35 between TX and KS going 70 is more dangerous than going 80 in my opinion... amazingly enough when the speed limits were raised from 55 to 65-75 back in the early 90's, highway deaths didn't increase by leaps and bounds... I think they dropped, didn't they?

so, speed isn't dangerous, and running 3000rpm isn't dangerous to your truck.

case closed? :D

Speed itself doesn't kill. It's other factors.

Germany has no speed limits, and it has a lower accident rate than the US. Go figure.

When i crossed west Texas this last summer the speed limit was 80 and I was still being passed by most drivers. My truck will run 95+ but I don't keep it there very long. When I pull the trailer I run 70 or 75 most of the time when out west on the open interstate but I keep it at about 65 when I am in the eastern states.

my truck tops out at about 80-85 mph. hmm, maybe i have a problem??? my truck likes being at 60-70mph towing or cruising.
