99 quad cab 6speed short bed 4x4 it is all over the place on the free way, have to put both hands on the wheel when towing my camper or trailer  new track bar next... .

Do you thing if I turn the adjustment screw down, on the steering box that may work? a 1995 Cummins, miles on truck 217000.

97 cc, linstead trac bar, AGR steering box, Darrins stabilizer, went to 285 toyo D rated and got better. Still wanders. I can't count the times where I took my eyes off the road and almost ditched it. The truck wears me out on roads that are not flat. Dodge could not ignore this, how many after market products are out there to help?? I drove a late model ford and it was rock solid.

I have been fighting my steering for a year. Last weekend I converted my truck from the Inverted Y to the Inverted T. All I can say is Wow, it drives better than my old 2005 CTD. Between this new upgrade and the DSS it drives like one of the new Ferds.

If you do a search for "My Steering Sucks" it will bring up a few threads describing the conversion. MUCHSNOW has given us very detailed instructions on how to convert our truck to the superior 98-99 model year steering system. It is a very simple conversion and it cost me $350 in parts from the local NAPA.

01. 5 and its all over the road. Did the convert. and think its worse. Thinking of putting the sway bar back on had to take it off because it interferred with the new trac bar. Also i think i notice the tie rod at the pittman arm loading up before it starts too move. If anyone's got any advice or the same problems on a lifted 2500 hit me up.

I was wanting to know since our 4x4 trucks have a GM steering box, do the GM trucks have the same steering problems that ours have? and if so, has anyone gone to a GM dealer and try to install one of thier boxes on a dodge?

I noticed on the PSC website that the box for a 2002 2500 4X4 is the same part # as the GM box.

Yup had the dealer fix it 2 times {tighten the steering box} and works for about 1500 miles and starts all over agian, added lukes joint and again helped for a while but back to sawing the steering wheel !!!! 2001 3/4

I don't think the steering box is the big issue, maybe for some it is but for most it's the linkage like the TRE's and track bar. I converted to the 98-99 linkage, added a DSS and a Thuren track bar and my steering is quite tight at 163,000 miles. The DSS has been on for 60-80,000 miles, the track bar for 40-50,000 miles and the 98-99 linkage for probably 15-20,000 miles and I think the steering is better than my wifes 06. Also remember to keep the pressure of the front tires up there, most people follow the sticker on the door which usually has you put less in the front than the back tires but since there is a Cummins up front and usually nothing in the rear of mine I run 65 up front and 40 in the rears but that is with load range D tires. I can usually notice if the tires are down to 60 psi or lower by the amount of wander.
