2003 2500. at 80,000 mi. new track bar, and steering box stabilizer made it drive like new again.

Posted here with a 2000 model awhile back and now have an 02.

Put a DSS on the 02 but it's still bad with only 73K. I think a new box and steering shaft are in the future.

Vibration...

Lukes links (5), sway bar bushings, end links, all helped much but still get the vibration at 2k rpm (60-70 mph)

Ya know, I cured a similar problem by replacing my 2001 4wd rear springs and the idiotic blocks with a full leaf spring pack..... amazing what that cures ride wise..... LOTZA wrap/drive angle changes going on back there, especially with a manual transmission..... Plus a myriad of other little (should be listed as a dependant) things over the years... .

Interesting. Yeah I don't have the wander since the lukes links but the vib is ver annoying on a 14 hour drive. Only happens between 2-2250 rpm (highway speed) and the vibe is in the center console not so much the wheel. I notice I can statically move the driveshaft off the centerbearing about 1/8 inch. This is my suspect now. Motor mount and trans mount appear ro be good shape.

I had just suspected drive-line angle issues and confirmed with the spring change that it was contributory. If you have an automatic, a bad torque converter can cause speed sensitive problems perhaps. Another ride quality mod I did that was sweet was replacing the "harmonic balancer" with a Fluidamper. Significantly smoother running... .

aaaannnd, the balancers on these trucks do/will go bad after a while. Never really seen it in the ole Chevy SB/BB world but have with the Cummins stuff. .

I got mine from Deaver, nice tapered leaf's w/military wrap. I don't think they advertise much for the Ram's since they are the primary supplier for either KORE or somebody. But they know what the measurements are and can no doubt work with you... ...

There's probably others, nice ride difference though. Airbags (PacBrake) are there too if I need load leveling. .

Work'n good for the "moment"..... ;)... .

Thanks for the reply. Will def file when I get ready to $$$
read a decent article on cummins forum regarding caster and factory settings. Seems this may be my issue aas my vibration is apparant ^ 2ooorpm and centered. The forum post recommends high side setting (+5. 5 to -6) vice the factory which I see is 3. 10. Anyway I am coming up on an alignment cycle anyway so I am going to discuss with them and hopefully they will let me troubleshoot for the price of one alignment..... smll town here so mb I will get lucky.

Wanting a Count of how many have had Steering Problems with 2500 & 3500 trucks!
There's been a lot of talk about how to fix etc.

I want to just see a count, no need for long replys, just model # & year!

Maybe if we show just how many, then DC will take notice. Remember how long it took Ford / Firestone to put figures together. My father in-law is starting Lemon Law paperwork on his 99 2500 4x4.

Death wobble problems on 1996 dodge diesel 4x corrected with solid steel mods to front end. Steering stabilizer (tie rod) and frame stabilizer. When I gripped the tie rod to the dealer he only comment was that it was in spec. That was not much comfort when I had to deal with the death wobble in traffic.

Have a 2001 dodge diesel 4x4 quad cab that I purchased new. It has wandered all over the the road I guess since I have owned it. Have a new track bar, and stabilizers to put on it, plus a steering gear box and stabilizer but have not had time due to a remodel job. Surprised I have not been pulled over for DWI and don't drink. bulldogger
