'99 3500 2WD Dually. Wanders like a blind dog in a meat market. If you're bored, just hit the brakes. That makes everything all exciting! Never know which way it is going to go, but it WILL go another direction! Got pulled over for "weaving". Had to explain Dodge's fine steering design for 1/2 an hour before he finally let me go. I don't even drink! Though this truck is trying to drive me to it...

You no I like the way you said that. That's a good one. It's in the steering box, If you find the F--king problem to fit this let me no? good luck.

Sure makes me happy mine is a *2wd* - seems like the vast majority here with problems are 4x4...

No steering, brake, or suspension problems of ANY kind! ;):-laf

1998 3500 4X4 Quad cab 5 speed, 268,000 miles. Had BAD death wobble any time I'd hit a bump in the road. Felt like the truck was falling apart, ... real scary.

I Installed a Solid Steel Industries Track Bar Conversion Kit 2 years ago from, enterpriseengine.com. Great company to deal with! Rock solid now!! The truck's a pleasure to drive, nice and smooth.

02 2500 99,000 miles. Started road walking a few months ago on bumpy roads, unnoticable on good interstate. New moog trackbar, draglink, swaybar bushings and links, and control arm bushings. Ball joints and tie rods next, with a full alignment, after that idk what to do. Is there a way to adjust my steering box? It doesn't feel like it has much play but an adjustment might help if possible. I knowits a lifted truck but it bump steers more than my 73 chevy with 12 inches of lift and original worn steering box lol. There's got to be something to fix it, hopefully the ball joints do the trick.

As bad as my steering was, I never experienced the death wabble. I guess I was just lucky. The stories were so scary, I felt the need to address the problem before I got first hand experience. Even If money is tight, do one part at a time. Each part replaced/upgraded, is another part not contributing to the problem. Good luck.

2001 Quad cab 4X2 3500 No problems at all. Drives great and doesn't wander like my 2001 Quad cab 4X2 2500 did. Nothing seemed to help on my old truck other than hooking my TT to it. Drove well when pulling but wandered when empty.

97 4x4 CC long bed, BFG's, Front end rebuilt at 90k, truck now has 181k and it wanders around in town and on the road.

My 2000 Dakota 4x4 CC with BFGs steers almost as well as my Honda Element. Almost.

1997 Dodge Ram Laramie SLT CTD 4x4, Auto long bed, Auto, Camper Shell. 2nd owner. Stock. 181,000 miles.

1995 3500 has had the problem a long time dealer replaced the ball joints about 30,000 miles. Still had the problem . I have 102,000 now and the problem has gotten worse when I pull my 40' enclosed trailer.

I have 128k on mine now, and it's had a snowplow on it since day one. I've never had the death wobble, but definitely some steering wander. In the last few months the front end has seen new wheel bearings, sway bar links, heavier springs, shock absorbers, and the Thuren track bar is going in this afternoon. The future may see a DSS and T-style steering.

'01 2500 4x4 160k, no death wobble but keeping it in lane was like trying to heard a cow down the highway without crossing over the lines.
I've done all ball joints, wheel bearings, track bar, BD steering Stabilizer, Borg steering box from Gino's along with the Borgenson shaft, steering stabilizer. Almost perfect now, my control arms need new bushings, I can feel the axle move when I go from reverse to drive or vise versa, I'm waiting on the bushing set from my lift manufacturer, currently back ordered.
I think the track bar, steering box and believe it or not the replacing the steering stabilizer made the biggest differences. then would be the BD support and then everything else.
