01. 5-Brought it back 2 days after delivery.
DC changed toe-in, better now, but NOT right.

Told DC I drive a 00 Durango regularly and it's rock steady- they said 'different setup altogether, the Rams will have some wander. '

I wonder if enough complaints to NTHSB will generate a recall???

Thought I would post a positive reply to this thread.
I own an 01 (built 2-00) QC SB ETH/DEE 4/4 with all options except power leather seats, snowplow prep springs and clearance lights. No Warranty service has been performed except for a couple of cosmetic items and of course the ctr. console hinge tabs. It has >20 K miles with plenty of trips to Florida via I 95. When I researched the purchase of my "midlife crisis" I was very concerned about the "steering wander" and "brake problems". I can honestly say that the truck is VERY sensitive to "road imperfections" (read crowning). There is a section of I287 in Mahwah NJ that is pretty new concrete surface. The truck tracks straight as an arrow, absolutely no "wander". It is the same on stretches of I 95 in NC and MD and the Richmond I295 (?) bypass. I84 in CT and NY and I87 NY are a totally different animal, the truck does become a little "loose" requiring some corrections. I run 60 PSI front and 55 PSI rear tire pressures in my perfectly wearing Michilin LTX 265R16's (rotated every 8k miles). In my opinion, the "loose" feeling is due to the design of the front end suspension, or I got really lucky on this one. I am sorry that so many of you are not satisfied with the way your trucks handle. Good luck with the NHTSA.

I agree with Kraut67M, the main issue with mine is that it does follow the crown of the road, and on real perfect stretches of streets I can let go of the wheel and it stays on the straight and narrow. I've always felt it was the front end design. Almost the reason I bought a Ford. . but I wanted a real oil burner. . so I took the lesser of two evils.

Remember this front end design came out of a sister DQ "truck" or SUV (the jeeps)that weigh half as much and have an engine over the front end that probably weighs 1/4 of what the Cummins weighs. All that weight tends to push the front end around. And those big fat bushings in the front end get compressed all different ways changing the front end geometry. And the track bar's bushing aren't helping either.
Give me a set of leave springs and a full solid front axle with hubs up front and the truck would be perfect to me.

01 2500 4x4 problem solved with skyjacker 7218 and aftermarket control arms, guess the overbuilt aftermarket trac bar is next too

problem solved by myself, but yes there was a problem I shouldnt have had to fix

Steering wanders some on my '01 2500 4x4 QC SB diesel. Was much worse on my '99 2500 4x4 QC SB diesel. Did not at all on my '98 CC LB 4X2 diesel. Does not at all on my work truck, 1500 4x2 LB V-8.

My truck used to wander REAL bad. Found it was slightly toed out. Corrected toe to slightly toe'd in. This made it MUCH better but it still wanders just not as much. It still is not what I consider acceptable.
