Hey all,

I want to inform everyone of what's getting ready to hit the market for us and to give a plug for Home - Mustang, Ram, Jeep Car Seat Motors, Gears - Two Men One Garage for making replacement seat motors for our "odd year" 98-02 2500/3500 Trucks.

Presently they're making the front and rear up/down motors, so if your truck seat no long works correctly and you're sure its the motor(s) and not the switch assy, and like me "just can't justify paying Ma MoPar big $$$ for the entire seat assy", since she conveniently doesn't sell just the replacement motors separately - if the assy is even available anymore. Read on:

Yesterday, Saturday 5/14/11, I installed 2 replacement motor assemblies from 2 men 1 garage that are not yet for sale (but according to Barry Humrich will be ready in less than a month).

I was fortunate that Barry was looking for someone to "test-bed" and perform a real world installation trial to see if motors installed as per the provided instructions, worked well and had the same travel adjustment as stock. I was most lucky because they entrusted me to provide my opinion / feed back / use as a guinea pig of sorts and sent the motors to me no questions. Their only request was that I provide "open" opinion of the product and installation.

After I completed the install of the 2 motors, only took just under 2 hours, I communicated my perspectives to Barry, which were all positive, he replied the motors should be ready to sell in less than a month.

In the kits I received everything needed to perform the R & R: Motor Assy's, solder-less connectors, bolts, spacer washers and nuts - "and" easy to follow instructions with pictures.

I'm pretty sure Barry said when the motors are ready for sale the cost would be around $90 ea.

Bottom line for me was: for the first time in almost 6 years my 6-way seat is now actually working all 6 ways!!! Oo.

Joe Mc, Thank you for researching this and posting for everyone. My power seats are still working fine, but components don't last forever and a good source for replacement parts is important. I love my '02 and with only 43,000 miles, it still looks and runs like new. I plan on keeping it quite a few more years. This will be the first place I will check when one of my seat motors fails. Regards, Mike

I actually learned about 2 men 1 garage here on the site, I made contact with Barry via his email listed on their site. He and I maintained contact via email until they had bench tested a prototype that was ready to try out. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to get two motors with different type stops to try out for them and provide feed-back on. It worked out for me and for them so it's all good for everyone. I figured it would be a good idea to share with the folks on this site as I'm sure there are many others with seat motor issues, and Barry was more than happy to allow me to share. Makes sense - free advertisement. That being said, I wouldn't be posting good results on a product that was undeserving.

This is great news! Have a trip coming up of about 3k miles..... sure will be nice to have the seat fully adjustable. I'll be getting my order in... ... .

Joe Mc: Thanks for following through on this and keeping us all posted!!!

You're welcome. It's the least I could do for folks out there like I "was" without any motors working at all for well over 5 years. That's what this site is all about - sharing of information.
