Got the truck running tonight and while tightning the afc lever it broke. It was leaking. Should I order a new lever assembly or remove it completely. If I remove it how do I seal the pump housing.

Aright I thought I was wrong. The lever I speak of is on the driverside of the pump It has a spring under it and rocks back and forth. the spring holds it foward. I replaced the O-ring that goes around the shaft and when installing the nut I broke the threaded shaft.

It was a tiny drip at first I should have left it alone.

Yeah. Well fear not.

You pull the top of the pump as you would for a gov spring R&R see. Then, the said item is in your hand. Remove that and install a new one. Be sure and certain that you index that correctly as in, "the external lever must be indexed with the internal arm. The internal arm would be parallel with the bottom of the cover (where the seal groove is located) when the arm is installed and the spring is holding the external lever full forward. It's this internal arm that forces the gov lever assy to cut-off fuel via the sleeve on the plunger (port open)

Don't forget the new O ring on that shut-off lever either.

Is the shut down lever the same for these early pumps. As far as pump numbers go. Just for cross reference reasons?

Well,,,,,,,,I'd have to go into the Adobe reader and compare the numbers. Can do. However, you'll likely have to buy a new one and just give the pump number. So, you wouldn't need the item number.

They likely ARE the same however some items do change especially with the gov assy.
