getting ready for the next Generation

Here we go, I don't like the Banks or ATS air intakes as to my idea of air velocity drop, its the small then big then small thing, trying to keep it simple, so is anybody running a swanker air intake, his look really nice, I have emailed but haven't heard back yet. I was hoping to get some field input on it from maybe someone running one.

As far as I know, the Swanker Intake is not in production yet. He may have started making them, but not any out there outside of a few test models that were made some time ago. Can't speak for him so you will have to wait for his reply to your e-mail.

On another note, there IS another intake manifold/intake horn on the market like/similar to the Swanker. It is a product of Glacial Diesel Power. You can check it out at http://www.glacialdieselpower.com/ It is acalled the Power-Flo Intake. I got one from him, great piece, quality made and fits to perfection. I noticed a little quicker pick up with a little less go pedal. Have only had it on for a couple weeks. Looks great too.

CD I had seen that piece and din't know if the Swanker guy was making it for them or not, they are very similar in looks, almost identical, so you like that piece? Would you say it was worth the money? I like the fact that its one size all the way thru, and if its like the swanker, then they really made a difference in the mounting bolt area. Did they? That is a pinch zone for air flow. Let me know.

Damn $229! Anyone wanna buy a ATS arc flow polished manifold? I have Richard's Fuel system and ladder bars. He's a great guy to deal with and for 229! WOW!

New player in the intake manifold field ! AFE Oo. The Flow test came out very impressive. 206 cfm compared to 183 on the Banks. The Dyno showed gains at 16-1700 rpm that were better than I expected. The pre-production piece is on the truck now and being re-dynoed. Monday I will get to do some real world testing. As with all AFE products it was engineered not just assembled to to fit. It has secrets inside to aid flow ;). The design for the mounting bolts is impressive and out of the air flow, without decreasing the area for flow. I am going to have to break out the camera next week.

Sorry guys for the bad link. Force of habit for me to type Glacial instead of Galcier, lived next to a business named Glacial for 40 years, just can't get it out of my mind. Thanks for correcting it for me John.

The bolt up is a nice fit, the bend eliminates most all of the bolt restrictions, nice turn in the bend, smooth flow, nice arc radius. The inside is finished too. I also have Richard's 2-micron fuel filter, it's a good quality made product as well, both the intake horn and the filter are GREAT, top notch products. I would recommend them to anyone, and purchase them again. Richard IS a great guy to deal with, can't say enough, he takes time to answer questions, is promt in shipment, his products are everything he says the are, good reference materials on his site as well. Takes the time to get it right the first time.

So would you say it was worth 229. 00? I hope there is no modifications to anything to get it on the motor. Does he do custom colors, I would like Cummins red, gonna ask him in an email, this piece looks about identical to the Swanker Intake, makes ya wonder, Swankers been awhile geting to the market, just food for thought, you notice boost drop or increase? any increase in spool up? mileage gain? egt drop or stay the same? thanks.

No mods, bolts right up, come with 2 new gaskets. I don't know about custom colors, that you would have to talk to Richard about. No drop in boost, seems to have stayed the same. I just put it on so I cannot tell you about any mileage changes. EGT's seem to be the same could be a little lower, since they fluctuate with driving/fueling not sure how you would really tell a difference. Go pedal seemed to have a little more response.

It does resemble the Swanker, but since the Swanker never got off it's feet and into production, as I see it there was/is demand, Richard rose to the demand and got it on the market. There are a lot of products out there that resemble other products, many are of better quality, some lesser. This intake horn is excellent quality, Richard put some thought into it to get it right.

I have a line on a FREE banks intake manifold as mentioned above. My buddy who is willing to give it to me upgraded to the whole banks kit, intercooler and the whole deal from banks. Are they drilled and tapped for my boost gauge? Is it worth doing for free or should I not waste my time???

yep. . now that there are more of them on the market, i hope it will help out the pricing. . i want one as an under hood dress up item. . which ever looks best in my opinion is what i will get. . [ats, banks, bd, cfm+, gdp, swanker... ]

Any flow testing or dyno ?

Bob

One of the reasons I went with the glacier was my MK-2 filter housing bolted right up to it. I don't think the others have the factory tabs on the back.

The AFE is driled and tapped for the factory studs (wiring harness) and set-up for water meth and boost gauge as well.

In three letters... DUH! If you dont want it, I'll give him 50 bucks... !

Bob4x4.

I don't know if Richard did any dyno testing or not, might want to check with him on that one. ATS and Banks DID do dyno testing, they reported an increase in numbers, also some have posted dyno number with only an intake horn change, not sure how much that was but I do remember reading someone's posts over a year ago regarding it. I think one of the fellows running a Swanker prototype did also, but that info is on another site, again burried in stuff over a year ago.

Richard rose to the demand for a horn like this, did the necessary work to get it on the market quickly, constructing it the way he did was no easy task, only welds are at the mounting plate an port area. The inside is finished and powdercoated too. I have been pleased with all his products I have so far, like I have already said it is of good quality. Somewhere down the line I will probably go with a different turbo, that usually also includes changing the intake horn. One less thing to do downline. I also like the fact my 2-micron filter has a bolt-up like it did on the stock horn. The ATS and the Banks only have one tab for the wire harness and no place for the 2nd bracket bolt on the 2-micron.

So Bob.

Tell us what gains @ 16-1700 RPM did you see on HP or TQ, And what power level were you running

I know the tag I also showed gains when we dynoed it at AFE :D

"secrets inside to aid flow" I bet he has something like the tag built in it:eek:

Post the dyno run sheet with what level settings you were running:-laf:-laf

I would like to see it done on a stock truck:D

So Bob, Show us the proof.
